Today I was trying to backup Lichdom: Battlemage gog version to DVDs. There are 3 .bin files and one .exe installer. The total size is around 12 GB. The first two .bin files and .exe that take around 7.8 GB. So to do what the title suggests, naturally I'm supposed to burn the .exe and first two .bin to a dual layer DVD and the other .bin to a 2nd DVD.
To ensure this process will work when I burn them that way, I cut the last .bin file to somewhere else in my hdd and started installation. The installer said (before the installation started) that I'm missing some files, so it will skip integrity check, however will ask for the location of necessary files during the installation. That's completely alright as that's what I want it to do. However during installation it showed some 'code 3 checksum error' and the installer stopped installing altogether instead of asking me for the location of missing file.
Just to try, I then made a .iso with the .exe and first two .bin files and started installation. Naturally same error showed up during installation.
I then tried keeping only the .exe and first .bin in the same folder and the last 2 .bin to another folder. Same error occurred.
I'm sure the file integrity is intact and there are no corrupted files. Because when I tried installing the game (along with integrity check) with all files on same folder it worked flawlessly.
So please help me with any suggestions that might help me install the game directly from DVD. I have Witcher 2 burned to 4 DVDs and I can install directly from them. So I know its possible (with some games at least). Also as I said the the installer says it will ask for the missing files during installation. But somehow it doesn't and instead quits altogether showing error.
Please note that my whole aim is to burn the game to multiple DVDs in a way so that I can install from them directly. I know I can copy- paste all files from DVDs to hdd in the same folder and install from there or can make .zip files to break big files into smaller ones and etc. But that isn't my purpose at all.
Thank you.
P.S. I see I should've checked the "question/problem" category when writing it. But I didn't know about it then. Now I can't check it on from edit section!
