Hello GOG community.
So I recently installed a SSD. Works great, and can still access my old HDD.
Only issue so far is that when I try to install a game from GOG Galaxy to the old HDD, I get an "Installation Failed" popup every time. (Windows 10)

This is strange because I can install them on the SSD, cut and paste the games to the old HDD, but not directly install them there.

This is pretty annoying because I want to only use my SSD for OS and new, or newish games, and use the HDD for anything basically thats literally a "good olde game" like 2000 and prior. These don't need a SSD.
My SSD is only 250 GB that's why I want to use the old HDD, I have a huge library of old games here and in other places.
Did you format the HDD in disc management after putting your OS to the SSD?

I bet you anything that doing that will fix the issue, did you try installing anything like a regular program of the sort to the HDD after making the SSD the main?

I had this issue a long time ago with just programs I wanted to install after making a 2TB HDD the storage container. I had to do a clean wipe and format it for it to fix the issue. Might work for you but good luck!

No, I didn't. I can't because I want to keep my old files on the HDD, it's 1 TB versus 250 GB on the SSD
Thanks though I had a feeling that would probably fix.
Sigh in the meantime I guess I'll just keep copying and pasting! Fingers will get sore from all this clicking ugh

Anyone have any suggestions? I can't format the hard drive.

UPDATE

I believe I've figured this out! Simply run GOG Galaxy from the storage HDD

You had Galaxy run off of the SSD and have the games on the HDD and it gave you problems? interesting. I always install the client on the drive that the games will be on. I know steam and blizzard and uplay and origin never had this issue with splitting the client location from the games.

I would recommend you report that one to support for them to patch that later on if others never did it.

Yeah that's what was happening. In a way I prefer galaxy to run off the HDD, even though its slower. No installation problems now.
