I am trying out the Galaxy client. I have changed the default install directory to "C:\program files (x86)\GOG Games" but every time I try to install a game it says that it failed with the error of "Installation Failed: Out of Disk Space."

I am not out of disk space as I have 930 GB left on that drive.

I have tried searching for an answer but there doesn't seem to be any answer in similar threads.

Try running the installer as Admin. Otherwise, you may not have the permissions to write to that directory.
Thank you,

Needed to give galaxy admin for it to download correctly.
This crap is why I never install stuff in Program Files... Afterwards you need Admin permission for everything. What a bunch of crap.

Can't you just change the folder permissions instead?

Anyway, I don't like that generic method too, there should exist permissions classes and requests.
For example:
- antivirus= full.
- program= its folder + userdocs (+ custom).
- game= its folder (+ custom).
- new install= ask for class or custom permissions.
etc..

I have this problem as well

If I set the download folder to C:\ I can download games.
If I want to download to my games folder on D:\ I get "out of disk space". I have tried running Galaxy in admin mode and tried giving full control to 'everyone' in the drive's security setting, no dice.
What exactly am I supposed to change to give Galaxy permission to install games to D:\? On Win 8.1

I pointed Galaxy to D:\Games\GOG, but I had Galaxy create that folder. It apparently created it as Read Only, so removing that read only attribute let me install. Maybe the same happened for you?
Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus while Galaxy is downloading as well. For some reason Galaxy and my AV clash on occasion, disabling the AV clears it right up.

I'm using avast!

In another thread about Galaxy, someone said they were using Kaspersky and disabling it worked for them.

I don't have it either. It's just that Galaxy in general gets oddly slow download speeds (understandably, at this time, speed issues are probably caused by them being slammed) and that out of space error, and the AV seemed to be the cause for me.
hey guys, i have a problem. I tried to install The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but it keeps going to tell me I ran out of Disk Space. So I tried changing the folder, but i can't switch to my other harddisk. i don't want to install the game on C:/, where i have only 13 GB left. i want it to install it to my 1.43 TB hardrive. Any solutions or hints?

Did you try running it as Admin? And if you are using Galaxy you may also need to run that as admin as well.
