It seems more arcade-y than Rebel Galaxy, so I'm not sure how much the game will offer beyond space dogfights. But hopefully it's deeper than it looks, especially given the price tag.

I love the in view from inside the ship, its very immersive looking and exciting. Would love to buy this but wont touch it for the rogue like aspects, losing most progress upon death which I hate. life too short to have my entertainment time repeating the same levels over and over again. shame really

There is crafting, trading, different weapons and stuff - it's as complex as Rebel Galaxy, if not more. :)

I think it's very good even now, but yeah, can't wait to see the finished product.

I don't know if it makes a difference to you but you don't repeat "the same levels over and over again."
Each time you die it procedurally generates a new set of levels so while you do start over it's not repeating the same thing.

Well, in this way, yeah, you're right.

This does look like a good game, but I still can not bring myself to pay money for something that is not finished. Hopefully, they will have a retail version soon, as this does show promise.

well, regarding the complaints:

1st: it's not because one game (NMS) failed miserably that no one should be allowed to try to make a good space game anyway... One failure should not condamn a whole genre

2nd: NMS was said as "full released" (and for full price), this one clearly and honnestly states it is yet in devellopment, and also priced accordingly

now i have a few questions for people who already touched this little beast;

How enjoyable and feature-loaded is the game in its current state (not taking into account whatever the devs planned or promised to put in) ?

Regarding piloting ship, i was very dissapointed in old spaceship games in 3D using all 3 axes because usually the IA was near-impossible to catch/aim at manually and even with some kind of autolocking and autopilot features, combats were boringly long and frustrating (painful memories of Elite 2 here, and darkstar one). I recently played a lot of Rebel Galaxy and the combat was way more satisfying for my personal taste. How does the game feel/work in such regards ?

How often are the devs keeping people openly informed ? Are they doing that on a regular basis, or do they go silent for long period up to the point you could worry of their goodwill and intent to ever finish the product ?

I love space games, was dissapointed by some, didnt yet play some that are said to be great (the X serie, for example), this one clearly appeals to me at first glance and i do like to put my trust into indev/early access/KS games whenever the creators are behaving in an honnest and healthy way.
So i wont lie, i am very interested by this baby, and even after 60 hours of rebel galaxy these past 2 weeks (even if it is a bit limited), i would jump on another space wagon gladly without "saturating" my gaming mind.
I dont mind roguelite difficulty, as long as controls are good, and difficulty is fair and i can make progress without too much frustration (i had no problem against darkest dungeon's level of difficulty, because it wasn't unfair or infuriating afaic)

I'd say it's pretty feature-loaded. There is crafting, different equipment to be found (and crafted), trading, fuel management, scanning... It's my subjective opinion that this could already be a completed game and it would still be worth its money.

Same here! I liked the theoretical concept of ship piloting, but all simulators felt frustrating and complicated. This one's controls feel very natural to me and it didn't take me long at all to learn the basics. At the same time combat feels very fast and dynamic.
Compared to Rebel Galaxy, combat is more skill-based (Rebel Galaxy was more about tactics, I'd say).

It's there, but Xbox 360 controller is required. Regular USB pads don't work out of the box - I tried using x360ce, but it didn't work for some reason.
