You can't kill the Metal, the Metal will drive on!

Double Kick Heroes is now available In Development, DRM-free on GOG.com. The game is 10% off until April 25, 8am UTC.
The undead tried to kill the Metal. But they FAILED! As they were mowed down to fleshy bits. Thuggish street gangs tried to kill the Metal. But they FAILED! As they were blown up by your merciless riffs.
Thus your power band rocks on, cruising the post-apocalyptic land on their upgradeable Gundillac. Meet eccentric characters and hit the right beats to destroy the raving deadbeats - it's the apocalypse, but don't let such trivialities get you off your rhythm! Should you feel your resolve weakening, just import your favorite music and melt some rotten faces off on your own terms.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
I like music and I like games, but I never got into those titles that mix the two.

And as a white guy from the Midwest, rhythm games would be next to impossible. XD

nightcraw1er.488: Really has been a while since I last saw them, wasn't this decade, so I presume 2007 at Graspop in Belgium. I doubt I will get to see them this year with the missus working away.
At least you saw them (more than once i presume); i didn't have that chance even though i've been listening to them since '96-'97.

andysheets1975: We're basically in the middle of heavy metal's great extinction (...)
I'm not in fear about this; lots of great classic bands exist no more, yet people still listen to them through their records and they still "teach" youngsters of the ways of rock n' roll (like Jack Black would have said). Having said that, i have faith in several modern bands that will continue to carry the heavy metal banner proudly.
Gonna be honest, this vivid fake-bit look isn't working for me.

Either go full 16/32 bit, or don't bother trying for an aesthetic. It's getting old.
With that name and the cover pic I was expecting a beat-em-up. The pixel-art wouldn't be a turn-off like it is to some people; if anything it could be charmingly well done resembling double dragon, streets of rage or river city ransom.

But I was far more interested in it before seeing it's a rhythm game. Wrong kind of beat-em-up, unfortunately.

Since I'm pretty awful at this sort of game I'll pass, but good luck to the devs and to those who enjoy the genre.

Panaias: I am a metal fan but I can't help myself, I need to point out that there's no need to write 'METAL' in capitals everywhere to specify that the game is related to metal music (really, there's no lowercase 'metal' in the description). It feels kind of... cheesy :) Then again, maybe the game is supposed to feel cheesy. Anyway, I do not mean any offense to the devs, on the contrary, the game looks really fun!
...They're riffing Jack Black/Tenacious D and Brutal Legend, it looks like.

mintee: ........ how are you supposed to see whats happening above if your eyes are glued to the action bar on the bottom?
In a way, it's like bullet hell shooters - your brain adjusts fast. I'm terrible at Metronomicon (I play on easy and I have to grind to win -- it's fun, though) and I can still see the charts, abilities, monster(s), active character performing the attack I play, assisting characters making secondary attacks, buffs and health meter.

Sorry, but I'm about to barf this link all over the most recent news posts because I think this topic deserves more visibility. Given my experiences with GOG during the past year users will be informed after the fact and in a footnote. So go get yourself informed:

You might also want to check your new privacy settings for the upcoming update. Because several users (including myself) had been set to default values that weren't intended - even by GOG.
