Brains required.

Project Zomboid, an open-world apocalypse-simulation of undying decisions, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac and Linux with a 40% launch discount.

Surviving the zombie apocalypse is no brainless endeavor. There are many grey matters of grave importance that need taken care of, like building or finding a sturdy shelter, scavenging for supplies, and making sure you stay mentally and physically healthy. This doesn't mean you still won't die, though.

There have been quite a few stepping stones leading up to the current state of Project Zomboid, as developers The Indie Stone will readily admit. Having been in development for over four years now, the game has undergone a significant number of improvements and alterations but the team also wants to keep implementing ambitious features like interesting interactions with NPCs and fully-functioning vehicles, as well as a reworked UI and stealth mechanics. The team is quite happy with the game's ongoing success, so these additions are expected to hit within the year, way before the actual break of the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

Make your undying wish of cleverly surviving the zombie apocalypse come true and take on Project Zomboid, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 40% discount will last until February 2, 1:59 PM GMT.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Stream watch:

Don't miss the live showing of the game at Twitch.tv/GOGcom - the dynamite duo of Memories in 8bit and Outstarwalker are going live tonight, January 28th, at 7pm GMT / 8pm CET / 2pm EST for a multiplayer feature!
And another one for the wishlist.
holy bat crap

this looks like it could be the most fun one can have with dead things. on wish list till I see more reviews on how coop works
Glad to see Project Zomboid is still alive and in development. It definitely deserves to be in the first batch of games pre-released here.

The main question I have about in development games on GOG is will Project Zomboid on GOG get the same level of attention as the Steam version? I don't want to be playing a version that is three updates old because favoritism is given to the Steam version.
Wow no way!

PZ generally gets a monthly update on steam (public branch) and aside from a few hiccups, most of the bugs are blasted on the opt in beta branch there beforehand. It was similar with Prison Architect.

My guess is tht patches will come a day or so after the steam version - that seems to be whats happened with Prison Architect post-release at least.

Haven't played co-op myself, nor multiplayer, but I can answer questions regarding the singleplayer / general stuff if you want.

I bought a copy years ago to support them. They were having the most epically bad luck ever for a while. I mean literally their work was delayed at one point due to a car bombing outside the office.

This reminds me that it might be time to see what's gone on in the meantime.

I knew they've had bad luck. I think they were robbed once, and lost a bunch of work. I'm glad to see they are sticking with it though.

We plan to roll out the stable updates at the same time as Steam - of course, this is a new service so we're yet to experience how this process actually takes place so there may well be an initial period of us finding our feet.

Also, I mention "stable" updates because we're not sure (at the moment) what we'll be able to do in terms of the opt-in 'beta' builds. I suspect that as we integrate support for GOG Galaxy, such things will also become possible. But these features will likely be things which are integrated over a period as opposed to being available right from the start.

I should stress that we at The Indie Stone are huuuuuge fans of GOG, so you can be sure that everything we can do to integrate GOG / Galaxy features we will do but, because we're a very small team, we will need a bit of time to implement it all, and we're yet to investigate how complicated that process will be with our game in particular. So caveats, etc ;)

Thanks :)

do you like the game? is it overly hard to get going at the start?
Can't wait to get back into this one, but I think I'll wait at least until the new animations are in and/or something like a bicycle to help me get to the mall!

I've been following this for a bit, but held off on the hope that it might find it's way here, so I'll be keeping an eye on it and will probably purchase soon!
