TW3 is one of the greatest games of all time for me, and so i decided to return to it. I played the game on my HDD for a bit then moved it to my SSD. I wish to get the new updates and DLC,So i boot up the galaxy client. I import TW3 game folder, it then scans my local files for about 15 minutes, after hitting 100% it began to download. I assumes "oh, its getting the updates" but upon closer inspection i realized it wanted to download 35 GB. I quickly cancelled as that would make me go over my 50GB month allowance. (earlier in march this year, I sacrificed my online gaming and YouTube binge to download this game).

I tried again and got the same result, what am I doing wrong? GOG galaxy is upto date, my SSD is fast, and Geralt is staring at me, laughing.

There is currently a bug in Galaxy when you import, it will show that the entire game is downloading even when it's not. Assuming the version of TW3 is the latest, then Galaxy should not download very much. I did this the other day.

One way to check and this should work, is to start the import and monitor the temp download folder and keep a check on the size and what is downloading. This should tell you what Galaxy is really downloading

You could also manually get the patches and try this tool if needed.

Fixed the issue, I uninstalled galaxy, reinstalled it, used the "scan games folder" instead of importing.

GOG, fix this please, would save alot of user confusion

As said above, I fixed it and now I need a 17GB update which I dont mind since I realize I missed alot and the first DLC pack is probably huge. Thanks for helping!

Reminds me of finicky FTP servers and other downloading software... If you let it download it will start from square 1, if you interrupt it, tell it to scan what's there and then continue/update, it will only update what's out of date or missing...
