Lol! It never ceases to amaze me how there's an XKCD for basically every single thing that happens...

A_Future_Pilot: This will also make me change where my installer looks for the Descent files when using a GOG install...

Knowing Randall, he was probably having a dig at emacs. The rest was incidental.

Ciris: Today morning we've unbundled the second of the two games we were to complete in the first week. Let us know if you come across any errors!
I posted it earlier, but I'll do it again. Cognition Episode 3 and 4 are both labeled "Episode 4."

Ciris: Hi, guys!

Just wanted to drop in with a full list of the games we're currently planning on unbundling, including their current and future titles. You'll find it under that link, downloadable in PDF format.

If you'd rather not download anything, here's the full list in hastebin, but it's not nearly as pretty.
Would it be possible to add the game ID of each new sub-game to the list (ideally before Tuesday)? This will greatly help me prepare MaGog for it.

mrkgnao: The link has been dead almost from the moment it was posted. There is another link two lines down.
Yeah, but that's not a link to the same thing. I was looking for the PDF.
Holy geezum crow, that list is... comprehensive. My shelf is about to explodulate.

It might be kind of neat to see each individual game, if the art is done well (i.e., NOT like Cognition) and the links all work (i.e., NOT like Grimm)... buuuuuut... my confidence to have this done well is... lacking.

I stick to it. Single boxes for episodes and chapters is rubbish. They're not separate games, but usually the result of a gradual release - most likely to finance development.
I agree with DeMignon, unbundling games is a logical approach, but not episodes and chapters. However I don't think is a total disaster, but GOG should reconsider it.
Still all about having separate library entries for individual games within bundles, but yeah, I gotta agree too. Episodes within a single game should remain a single library spot. At most those are the ones that should get the "multiple download links under a single box" treatment.

Having seperate games unbundled makes sense.

Having a single game seperated into individual episodes makes no sense.
For all those (wise) people rushing to save their files before the unbundling, do note that two games to be unbundled have serial numbers in your library. You might want to record these too before the change.

The two games are: "Heroes of Might and Magic 5" and "Two Worlds 2".
All are going to be unbundled? What is about the Might and Magic 6-PACK? I dont want and need them all as one box/slot each. The same with i.e. Tropico Reloaded. And so on and so on...

But I would agree with that if you unbundle the installers only. So they would be nevertheless bundled furthermore in one box/slot with one artwork like I'm/we are used to it.... Would make it a bit easier to that gamer who wants to play only i.e. part 3 of the M&M 6-Pack, so he/she only needs to download just that one, maybe.
But otherwise I was never bothered about that, because one can decide which one to install right in the installer. Nobody has to install all the games to only play one of it.

And like some others wrote: Not every game needs an own slot, especially the older ones with low MB sizes.

-> Waste of space and a worse overview in my opinion.

PS: Fits somehow...

Splitting games into multiple boxes on the shelf is a bad idea. Better keep a single box and split one bigger installer into few smaller ones.

One example is DROD 1+2+3. English version has one installer, but Russian version has separate installers for each game (since it was added). I think this is the perfect solution for other games.

The information after clicking on a box could look like this (Windows English version as an example):

--- DROD: King Dugan's Dungeon ---

Windows Installer, English

--- DROD: Journey To Rooted Hold ---

Windows Installer, English

--- DROD: The City Beneath ---

Windows Installer, English

Ciris: snip
What about Avernum 6? I noticed how it wasn't included on the list.

AND YOU'RE UNBUNDLING ALL OF HEROES CHRONICLES AND LSL RIP GAME SHELF

-> "sorry, this download link no longer exists :(" ...

Ciris: Will we be able to toggle unbundling?
No. We're doing this for all the games, it's not a customisable feature - it's something we'd been planning for a while now as a more accurate representation of the games on your shelf.
Not nice. Technically maybe understandable (I'm no IT-tech) but... Could the gog-staff work on REAL requested features please? Such with a big amount of votes? Such which the people are asking for years now?
Personally I don't need a so called "more accurated representation" - at least not if it gets done 'gog-style' - like the infamous "Good News"... or 'Gray is now our new famous color'... or 'Our gamecards look now [Sep 2014] much prettier'... or 'Grim Fandango voters = Grim Fandango Remastered voters'... etc. ...

Ciris: How will the new games be ordered on the shelf: at the start/end as newest appearances, or with the games they are related to?
If you have games ordered by purchase date, they will be placed where the old game was placed. If You have manual sorting they will be placed at the beginning of your collection.
Fortunately I don't order them manually... Gonna be fun for people who do, to restore their shelfs - especially with hundreds of games :/

Another question from my side: Do you plan to give every game the same cover like in the way of Ys I+II?
So, for example, we're going to get six times the same cover artwork for all M&M 6-Pack games?
If yes, is that the sort of "more accurate"?
