Double Secret Probation EDIT:

I got a coupon out of the blue from eBay which allowed me to purchase an RX 580 8GB card - XFX OC Black model - for $270. I will be able to sell my current card - a Saphire 7950 3GB - for between $90 and $150 - bringing the net price down even further.

I am so excited! Given the mining-driven prices this year I had not been counting on an upgrade for some time.

I wrote this out originally, but no one replied to the thread for a day and a half, so I erased it. But now there is some interest, so here I am editing the OP...

I would've deleted the thread if I could. I figured I would stay getting replies if I tried to sneak away.

I just have to say: THOSE PRICES.
I pray mine does not die soon, or I can say gaming goodbye.

Seriously, a GTX 1080 now costs more than my whole PC did when I built it!

My laptop is fine for the moment, but when I get a gaming pc, it'll probably cost a much as that (gpu inc.) it'll probably be something like gtx 680, but i'll save the money from the fact I bought a 500gb hdd a little while back already, and have two spare cases (old, but with enough panels) lying around. Anyway, google 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R Lost Alpha' if you don't know it already. It's a free standalone games based off the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R game. When CPU's went dual core and beyond, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games really struggled. With Lost Alpha being the first game, but with so much more happening, it struggles even more. Of course, they are getting better as cpu speeds get faster, but to be honest, they rely on a good gpu, and ram speeds. They are 32 bit, so only use 1gb ram. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha will probably still challenge your setup when running on max, despite now having a great graphics card!

In the current climate that is a huge deal. Congratulations! I got my 580 8GB, four months ago for $370(as a deal on Black Friday), but I live in Europe so fuck my "entitled" needs.
