If you're serious about getting into riichi mahjong then I can't recommend Tenhou enough:

I think you can play as a guest but if you register (no verification required) then it keeps tracks of stats for you and gives you a rank (kyuu/dan) as long as you are active. If you don't use your account for a while it auto-deletes and you would need to re-register and all your ranks/stats are reset too.
