Good evening
I bought IL2 1946 a while ago and now I finally installed it.
Unfortunaly after installing the game, it refused to launch.
I can see that something happens in the taskmanager but the task disappears to quickly to see the name.
My PC specs:
-Windows 10 64bit
-AMD FX-8350
-NVIDIA GTX 760 4GB
-24 GB RAM

I would be very happy if anyone knows how to fix it.
Yours faithfully

Did you try using the compatibility mode (XP) , with administrators rights ?
You should also disable the scaling ( also in the properties/compatibility tab )

Otherwise that game is in theory working fine Under 10. Or was, because I read on Steam forums that one user experienced issues with it on 14th June wheread he never had had it before. Collateral effect od a W10 update ?

You should check with support. I suspect the issue is recent (see my edit above )

Another thing to check maybe is your install path. Did you install it in the program files folder or in a specific folder? If the former, you may want to try uninstall, then re-install in a folder like D:\IL2

Well, according to this thread some people actually can play it on Windows 10 without any issues so there's hope. But sadly since the people in that thread are lazy ass jerks who don't even share the most basic information (like whether they are using a GeForce or Radeon) it's impossible to tell what is causing the problem exactly. I guess contacting GOG support is your best bet.

Edit: Since I just got a decent new flight stick and am desperately looking for games to play with it anyway I'm installing Sturmovik now. Let's see if it will work for me (also using Windows 10).

Your system looks rather new. Maybe you've never installed the old DirectX 9 components needed by lots of older games.

Download them from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Run it and extract the files to a separate folder.
Go there and run DXSETUP.exe for installation.
Nice idea
I´ll try that

-sadly it still doesn´t work

Sorry for the late reply, I'm ridiculously busy lately. Anyway, I fired the game up, I'm also on Windows 10 64 bit and I also have a GeForce (GTX 560 Ti) and it works fine. I get some error message on start but it doesn't affect the game at all.

One suggestion I have is uninstalling GeForce Experience if you have it installed as there are numerous games that won't launch while it's running (I had to uninstall it a while ago to play Heroes of Annihilated Empires).

I got it working this morning by:

1. Download Direct X9 and run as described in an earlier post on this thread.

2. install IL2 as normal

3. open the folder of files and run IL2setup.exe then select the 'provider' as Direct X, also fullscreen option

4. go into each exe file and set the compatibility to XP, resolution to 640 by 480 and tick to run as administrator.

Hope this helps somebody.

I had similar issues on windows 10 and I managed to fix them by selecting Data Execution Prevention (DEP) setting to be set as

'Turn in DEP for essential Windows programs and services only'

from Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Settings (in the Performance section) > Data Execution Prevention (tab).
After selecting this and rebooting I was able to run the game normally without any compatibility mode!

Regards!

this simply does not work, IL-2 will not and can not run on windows 10 what so ever.

Runs flawless on my Win 10 machine.
