Ideal is being incorporated in / transitioned to WERO and made available EU-wide, so probably this outage is due to that migration. Other stores probably handle it a little more ideal, but it's GOG, so... ;)

Still I would much prefer a simple SEPA option.

No. The transition from iDEAL to Wero definitely won't finish before 2026 and hasn't even begun yet. When that transition starts it'll likely look like the current transition from Payconiq to Wero in Belgium: both payment methods will live side-by-side for a while.

It's more likely that there's some problem with iDEAL payments at GOG's payment processor. Since 2023 a transition has been taking place from iDEAL 1.0 to 2.0. This year those old 1.0 integrations are being terminated by most payment processors. It seems likely that GOG's payment processor either terminated the 1.0 integrations or messed something up while working on their transition to 2.0 behind the scenes.

GOG was still using iDEAL 1.0, because they still asked for a bank selection up front. iDEAL 2.0 involves an immediate redirect to a payment portal, where the user can then select their bank. At least the good news for GOG devs is that the new integration, if it's necessary, should be much simpler.

For any Dutch users who still want to purchases games on GOG: you can probably use PayPal. Add balance to your PayPal account using iDEAL, then use PayPal to pay on GOG. It's annoying, but should work (though I have not tested it).

i tried paypal many years ago but something didn't go right back then (maybe hacked) i don't know but my account is blocked and my bank id was linked to that..(kind of a add funds to a card thing and then spend it)
i'm also not comfortable giving them all my private info to resolve it.(a bit too much info i.m.o. which they have no real reason for having, outside EU company.)
(aswell many dutch people have no interrest/use in making an account there)
(ideal doesn't need that) Besides that point, paypal is something i'm never using or have need for either aswell honestly.

I get Wero is something that wants to become a full EU payment thing but that doesn't start untill 2026 indeed if lucky.

Well this is unfortunate as I really hate to use paypal. Another extra step through a scummy company pretending to be a bank (as if banks weren't bad enough nowadays) but without safeguards, customer service, hungry for all my information and a direct connection to my bank account (which they will never get).
