IMHO City of Brass seems like a perfect indie fit for GoG... but is there something I'm missing?

trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEiaQTHXEsk

I've debated on getting this game on console but today received an email saying it was on sale at Steam ($3.99). I went to the Steam page and then -- since I prefer buying on GoG -- Google searched for any word on City of Brass releasing on here; I've held off buying on Steam with the smallest inkling that a game might show up here. Anyway, my search led me to this thread:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/301840/discussions/0/1480982338965950621/#c2788173147737219182%22%20class=%22light_un%22%20target=%22_blank%22%3E%3Cbr%20/%3E%20https://steamcommunity.com/app/301840/discussions/0/1480982338965950621/#c2788173147737219182%3C/a%3E.

So, seems City of Brass was declined by GoG.

I'm baffled by this even more than the other games titles that get discussed here that they (GoG) declined; many of those have documented issues, but City of Brass? Seems more than a few in that thread are baffled as well. Sounded like the game was pretty polished and complete. Wish I knew why City of Brass was turned down.

I've wanted to play this for a long time... and hate to give Steam my money, but...

It seems like a perfectly mediocre game in a sea of people complaining that there's already enough Rogue- games on the store already. Or people complaining about games eternally in betas, early access, and incomplete states.

Didn't know reviews had been so mediocre. I'd only watched a few YouTubers who enjoyed it, but yes...

... found ACG and GGmanlives saying it was a "good game" hampered by some poorly implemented mechanics. Both were saying to look for patches. That's probably the reason I would guess.

Too bad
I would not give up on it.

Although it may have been turned down, it can appear later on, specialy if they do patch it and tune it up a bit.

Loria was a game initialy turned down by GOG (I talked to the devs themselves time ago on their Discord while asking for it and they said it was turned down by GOG), yet here it is after some time.

If you do like it, an option is to ask them to polish it up so it can live up to release standards in GOG.

Don't give up on it so easily. It appears to be still active. What I would do before snuffing out the torch is to go ahead and look up some videos, see if you can spot anything alarming about it.
It was free on Epic Store (in May or June). I go it there DRM-free, but haven't played it yet.
