Gnostic: Congrats.

To take 11 years, how long is your novel?
avatar
Emob78: 11 years? Holy Toledo. And I thought I took too long spending 4 months to write a screenplay.

I always like Hunter S Thompson's style of writing. Months of notes and scribbled nonsense followed by one long night of writing fueled by whiskey and cocaine. Presto! Award winning novel.
It didn't straight up take 11 years to write. I first tried to write the story 11 years ago and dropped it after a year and about 70k words written because I got sidetracked. Then I grabbed a few project over the last few years but they didn't quite work and I ended up coming back to this (for a full rewrite) in March. I started properly writing in late May, making it about 4 months.

The end result is about 121,000 words, so 300-400 pages. Although this will no doubt vary as we edit it.

is you book for sale or free to read, please link to your book.

All the best

PS Whilst I'm here GOG sells games and movies, why not ebooks, I've been here just over a year, I've seen so much talent [writing / composing music etc.] GOG.com could be a good outlet for these artists. give them a platform to express themselfs..

[edit] spelling again :(

mrkgnao: Congratulations! Welcome to the club!
I was enjoying your own recently.

That changeling bit is terribly dark, though it did seem appropriately Grimm.

edit: Of course, congratulations to Tizzy! You must be super dedicated.

Much appreciated. I very much enjoyed writing it.

It took me quite a bit longer than Tizzy, though: 39 months full time.
Congratulations!  :-D

Does full-time mean like every day x amount of hours or...?

Every weekday, roughly 9-to-5.

I left my real-life job to write and we lived off my wife's salary during that time.

And it took you 39 months to finish the book? Holy hell, I'm never gonna finish my story... :O
Thanks, guys :D

I'm hoping to have it up for sale on digital platforms come February or March next year.

As for GOG not selling ebooks, I think it has to do mostly with wanting to stick to a type of media, I would guess. Particularly since the amount of books that are published each day is huge, so they'd need to REALLY choose what to publish and what not to. In a world where Amazon and B&N already exist as main retailers with Humble being the indie-ish one, there might not be enough of a reason to go after ebooks for people from GOG.

... Unless they were somehow related to gaming, I guess.

Didn't know I was accompanied by another comrade of the land.

Since some have already pointed out Evangelion's clip-clapping, I will do as many have.
