Randalator: Because it's too "in-" for my taste...
Oh right. Too mainstream for you?

Darvond: Do you think GOG needs it's own take on trading cards?
About as much as Star Wars needed prequels.

I'm so sick of the gimmicks. Gamification of buying games, gamification of playing games... go digging in my shit for corn. I just want to buy and play games.

...You do realize my entire suggestion is in serious jest, correct?

I know. But I took it you asked the question seriously. And it's a question that keeps coming back from time to time. Together with gimmicky sales and threads about ideas for gimmicky sales, and achievements and so on and so on... I guess I just needed to vent.

WBGhiro: What do you get when completing a whole set?
A flaccid slow clap.

sanfueg: Everyone says no...2h later...10000 votes....2 days later, it's here.
Hmm, looks like it didn´t work out---15 votes so far...

Darvond: Behold my idea that is the ultimate counterpoint to Steam's trading cards!

What do you think of my amazing idea?

Do you think GOG needs it's own take on trading cards?
Depends on your bod, maybe - meaning, u go first?

Even though this gimmick wouldn't have any affect on the actual sale, but instead be a mere bonus for buying?

Yes. And I know I may be a bit irrational about it, and overreacting but I'm just realy tired of this gimmicky stuff everywhere. It feels like everything has to be gimmicky nowadays, everything has to be made into some game, yuo have to get points or achievements for everything, nothing can be just what it is. It feels to me like I'm sorrounded by mental five year olds, whose attention span is so short you have to make everything into a game for them. Or maybe it's just that people in the rich, peacefull world (and let's be honest, for all the problems it might face, it's for the most of us are safer and richer than ever) are so bored with everything that they have the abundance of that marely buying things is too tedious to them. I'm seeing it all around, book stores, cinemas even damn bakers coming up with gimmicks. It all just seems terribly infantile to me.
Virtual trading cards are like Virtual Achievements. They won't mean much and have much value. Earning cards, sure, trading, no... leave that out, it will just add an element of silliness...

Why not add a DRM scheme that requires you to do a silly walk? Or Prove you're human by quoting Monty Python? Or play a mandatory clip on SPAM.
Clothing-free cards to go along with the DRM-free games? o.0
Maybe I'm too old, but never understood why Steam trading cards are so popular.
I fail to see any downsides to this concept. Bring on the nude cards!

It's meant to be silly, you realize.

I don't understand it either. hence the entirely misguided suggestion.

No, the cards are fully clothed. But you get naked pictures on them.

The downside is they're purely decorative and bring no benefit to the user aside from scoring a free nude wallpaper when a set is completed.

I'm younger than 90% of you here and I don't get it either.
