You didn't say who/what sent you the email

What account password? You email account? GOG account?

you mean in GOG chat. Right?
It's probably sent by some loser scammer.

Wasn't it an automatic email from GOG saying "X user has left you this message"?

Mr. Amrit, the scammers have been here for a very long time...

You mean that email address is associated only to your GOG account and you've never used it for anything else?
It is easy to subscribe to services and mistype an email address.

One of my email addresses was used once to subscribe some Uber-like service in India. I kept receiving confirmations and invoices for transport services.
I contacted the company and they sorted it out with their customer.

Getting out of the subscription, now that can be the real challenge. ;-)

I'd say you can ignore it for now.

Well, the important piece of information here is the email address the message came from. Google it and you will most probably find out whether it's a known phishing address within a few seconds.

Also, in case it's just unsolicited mail, don't follow any links or open attachments, make sure to mark it as spam and never think of it again. Remember, anyone can SEND YOU an email, the reason for concern is when someone else gets email FROM YOU, and you were not the person who sent it. ;) Changing your password is of course, always a good idea, but in this scenario - it should not be affected. :)

P.S. Here's a trick to help you and others find out if and when a site you registered on sold your address to a third party OR was acquired by other even less moral means.

It's a bit unclear if you mean that the strange email you received appeared to be coming from a Gmail account. If yes, look at the email headers to see if it actually originated from where it appears to have; it's a very common tactic used by spam/phishing bots.

Whatever the case, if you don't recognise the sender, follow TheOneRaziel advice, and don't interact with it in any way.

It sounds like you're using a unique email address for GOG. Are you absolutely sure that you haven't used it anywhere else?
I've been using the same unique email address for GOG since I signed up, and have never received unsolicited email.

If you use this email address for any other purpose, it's possible that the contacts list of one (or more) of your own contacts has been compromised, hence your email address has landed in the hands of spam/phishing bots.

You could change both your password and email address here as a precaution, just make sure you're not recycling any of them.
