I've been trying to post a FIX tutorial in the Conquest: Frontier Wars forums and it won't post.

Any ideas?

How long was it? There is a limit to how long forum posts (and reviews on a games store page) can be. I don't know if anyone knows exactly what the limit is, or if it's even a hard, "specific number of characters/words/[whatever]" limit at all. I'd recommend you try splitting your post in two, then posting the pieces separately.

EDIT: Also, if no one else posts in the time between your making two posts in the same thread, and it's been less than 10 minutes since your last post, the forum software will automatically combine your posts (though I don't know if it would still do this if the resulting "superpost" would exceed the aforementioned mystery length limit).

Fourm posts limits at about 10k, while reviews for games are about 4k.

I doubt that I, personally, will have to worry about hitting either limit (especially with reviews) any time soon, but thanks for the data. : )

You'd be surprised. I ended up writing a 16k review for Rebel Galaxy... Just had a lot to talk about and consider :P Forced to break it into 2 posts.

Could you point me to it? I'm currently playing it (on and off) and would be interested in your opinion :-)

Certainly. I usually have put my reviews as 'impressions', usually where i quit a game because i'm frustrated, annoyed, beat it and annoyed, or just outright annoyed :P Or when i beat a game... I do prefer beating games, then i get to update my 'finished in 201x' posts.

I meant that I don't write reviews. : ) Not least because GOG apparently has trouble with actually posting newly-submitted reviews, but I also just don't get very far in most games. The ones I DO end up spending lots of time in are almost invariably open-world/sandbox games, and even in those I tend not to see much, if any, of the late-game content. Then there's the fact that I would rarely have anything to say about a given game that hasn't already been said quite well in at least one or two existing, high-rated reviews -- and since your typical user will have to dig through the whole pile to get to the most recent reviews anyway....

Thanks, interesting read :-)

I had started this game after completing Starpoint Gemini 2 and totally didn't know what to expect. Then I heard the music and was totally blown away by it.
I'm not that far into the story (I think), but it's nice so far. It sometimes gets a little grindy (having to do mission after mission to be able to upgrade the ship to get fit for the next story mission), but since I'm playing it in irregular intervals it's manageable. Start the game, do a few missions, quit.

I tried playing Starpoint Gemini 2 not that long ago, ended up quitting unfortunately :( Felt too much like i couldn't make enough headway, and the sector level/difficulty changes drastically as well when going through areas. Every few minutes having to re-orient to plane is also annoying since otherwise you easily get lost.

Oh well. Still you can probably beat Rebal Galaxy in 20-30 hours, so it's not really that long a game.

Why reorient? Simply follow the waypoints. I almost never "reoriented to plane", it's space after all :-)
The difficulty is... special (one could say, broken). Your character levels go up way too fast in the beginning, so you're probably still flying a corvette and suddenly have to deal with destroyers...

The only way around this is upgrading to bigger ships fast, and the only way to get the money is capturing and selling enemy ships. I also was almost quitting the game in rage. But then I refitted my ship: all upgrades and crew members were tuned to improve capture abilities: better transport capability, troop strength... I got lucky a few times and got ships several classes bigger than me, sometimes I switched ship, sometimes I sold them. After that the game became quite relaxing.
The other blatant weakness is the story, IMO. It's really not very interesting.

It certainly works better when you HAVE a waypoint. I'd look at the map, go to the general sector i'm interested in, find new jobs, and then accept the ones i'm interested in and think i can do.

Yeah i found out capturing ships was the best way... although i certainly wasn't succeeding very well doing that. I think i bought one ship that was an upgrade, only for it to be worthless to me, and selling back lost me half the money or something. Quite annoying. I tried to specialize in capturing ships, but i only get 1/20, and was getting too annoying. Just gave up.
