I've never understood why some forums have this made up label of "thread necroing" or whatever like replying to something that hasn't had someone reply to it in awhile is somehow bad, how is it bad? I don't care if a thread is 50 years old, if you got something new to contribute, why not.

Also thread "bumping" is fine as long as it's not going overboard. I mean if a thread sank out of sight for awhile and was generally missed, one should be able to bring it back up to sight, see if those who didn't see it last time might have something to contribute. If that's what you're doing, it should be fine, the only thing a rule against it would do is make people come up with excuses to post to the thread that doesn't explicitly state it's a bump.

Both rules are absurd (I don't remember them being against the rules, but if they are...) especially in a forum where we got threads where people just post things of three words, for example.

I agree with this...well said.

Also, to me, making new threads seems like it would only clutter a forum more.....vs using an old thread that's on the same topic.
