Ohhhh. That's a dick move on their part.

Foxhack: This is the same company that refuses to give Indie Gala CD keys for the Edna & Harvey game because they claim it'll bankrupt them.

So...

nijuu: It the case of IG i can fully understand (IG's BTA price fixing & their stupid happy hour at *discounted prices* for multiple copies *free* flood the market - the market for a given game shrinks) :P
And Daedalic was forced to sell their game at this terrible place?
It is just dickish. I buy many bundles and most developers add Steam Keys afterwards. It is always nice to find new steam keys. It don't cost the developer a cent, maybe a few hours of work, but Daedalic would go bankrupt if they provide Steam Keys for people who only spend only 1 Buck for their games - oh wait, they are perfectly fine with this, but only for new customers...

And not only Steamkeys, the people complain about an outdated broken version without an installer, too.
Sigh, the more I read, the more unhappy I'm getting - and just went to finish up Night of the Rabbit and ran into a glitch - ugh. Fortunately a fellow Goglodyte had published a work-around of the known glitch but still no patch from Daedalic. Now I come to find out the copy of The Breakout I broke down and bought on IG is buggy too. ~sad panda face :-(

No. But i can potentially see where they are coming from in terms of future sales if the market is flooded with their existing copies due to bundles (who do they sell the game at retail pricing with minor discounts to when everyone has the game from a bundle??...doubt they will be the only devs thinking about this...free steam keys are find in practice but for the future of the game?...). I think there has been same issue re installers with a few other games IG have offerred... *cant recall*. Anyway, yeah to all concerned from outside it does seem a bit unfair ...

SirPrimalform: They weren't involved, it was indeed Telltale. ;)

Momo1991: Then why the heck is W&G on the wikipedia? Sheesh, guess my prof's were right - wikipedia sux!

auroraparadox: I'm considering getting this bundle for The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav. The graphics look good and the story doesn't sound half bad.

I haven't played any point and click adventure games. Would this one be a good starting point?

EDIT: How difficult are the puzzles in this game?
avatar
Momo1991: I haven't gotten to this one as yet but most P&C's aren't terribly difficult though I usually really enjoy the puzzles. But that being said, there are walk-throughs for most games if you get stuck on some puzzle. hey not every brain works the same as a dev's brain ;-p

IAmSinistar: Not that I know of, but I'm happy to provide a test case. Any game from the bundle you'd like to try?
avatar
Momo1991: I tried this with spoderman today and it works fine but sadly the gift is just the key - not the drm-free version with the gift. The drm-free version stays with the gifter. Which is both good for the gifter but bad for the giftee. ~conflicted~
Thanks for the feedback Momo1991.

What is the general mood of the games in the weekly sale?

And what was their conclusion after they thought about this? Offering Journey of a roach in a bundle three days post release... ;)

They decided to work with Indie Gala and they should value every customer and give support - they made the offer with the cheap games.

I don't think, that the whole bundle thing is good for the indie market in the long term, because this eliminates regular sales. I stopped buying any kind of small independent game after release or preorder it because they will mostly appear in bundles soon, some only days or weeks after release. But when a developer decides to put a game in a bundle, he can not only take the money, he must also grant support for bundle buyers.

HK_47: On the other hand, Chains of Satinav is multilingual, and can be set to German.
avatar
Leroux: The DRM-free installer, too? That would be great news, indeed, and in that case I might buy the bundle, even though I already own the English version on GOG. Then again, if they're allowed to do that in the bundle, why can't they update the GOG version with a multilingual installer, too?
Yes, it's the DRM-free version.

And they've just updated the download page. There are now separate download links for the DRM-free German versions of The Whispered World, and the Shakespeare games.

You mean the bundle does now contain DRM-free German versions of Satinav's Chains AND The Whispered World? O_o

Hm, not sure what to think of it. If I buy the bundle for the German voiceovers, they'll probably get added to my GOG account a week later anyway and then I've paid twice for the same games. Or maybe this is a Humble exclusive, and in that case this might be my only chance to get these versions but I wouldn't like the idea behind it at all, because that would mean they really *wanted* me to pay twice, on top of it. :/

Oh well, let's hope the cockroach game is worth the $6, at least.

In any case, thanks a lot for the info, HK_47! :)

(Ironically, your avatar is a painful reminder of developers alienating their early customers with better Humble deals, btw. ;) You've got good taste though, awesome game!)

It think, that I really don't like. I was kind of "relieved" that TWW missed the german DRM-free installer. They always blamed contractual obligations for their lacking language support for their native(!) language. These obligations, if they ever truly existed as sole reason for the lack of german language here, must have expired or are negotiable.

But hey, maybe they would go bankrupt if they patch the games for all previous buyers @GOG.com... So you must buy the a second or third time. I already bought both games as Steam and GOG version. I will not buy a Humble Bundle "exclusive" version a third time just to combine the advantages of both versions.
I just made a different decision. I will not buy any Daedalic related game in the future until they patch both Games here and stop this nonsense with every new delayed (weeks after release) and incomplete (without german) GOG release.

Foxhack: That also applies to normal purchases done through the Indie Gala store, where games are sold individually, not just the Galas themselves. They also seem to have given IG a broken version of the game, and don't want to update it... so...
Thanks for the info. I had actually bought the DRM-free version of the game from the Gala Store, but never tried it. That's no way to treat your customers. I now wish there was a way to re-adjust how the money from my HB Weekly purchase will be distributed.
Finally! A DRM free decent bundle. There might be hope for humble bundle yet. :)
Does the site allow us to gift Steam keys from "Humble Weekly Sale: Nordic Games"? I have no need for the Neighbours From Hell Compilation key because I have the game on GOG already, but I don't see the clickable little gift button to the right of the "Click the button to redeem on Steam" line. Do they only allow you to gift a game if you already own it on Steam?

EDIT:
In answer to my question, Clicking "Click the button to redeem on Steam" actually gives a key for "Neighbours From Hell Compilation".

As far as I remember, Neighbours From Hell simply didn't come with a Steam key in this bundle. Though it could have been added later, I think the game got added to Steam recently? (Not sure if I remember correctly though.)
