AWG43: This month Choice is very tempting to sub for. At least for Mafia: Definitive Edition or Rebel Cops, as for me. I don't quite understand the prolongation of Humble Choice because I have never subscribed for any monthly subscription before. Do they really take money from the credit card automatically each month?
Their Humble Choice bundle rotates every first Tuesday of the month, and auto-charges in the last Thursday of the month, unless a) you already paid for that month or b) you paused that month. I don't remember if you need to have a credit card registered in the site, but you probably do as it's a recurring subscription.
Hey, _Auster_! Thank you for the reply.

So it's like I can pause the subscription if I don't like the current Choice or do I have to pause before Humble Bundle reveal the new Choice? This is exactly what I can't understand.

They reveal the games first then charge for them a few weeks later, so you can decide if that month's selection is interesting for you. And you can pay for the bundle before the auto-charge date too.

They don't have a stable date at which they charge you for the bundle. They reveal the new choice bundle sometimes during the first week of every month, and they charge you automatically for it, sometimes during the last week of every month.

However, during that month you can actively choose to redeem any of the games from the bundle, at which time you will be charged for the bundle immediately. Or at any time during the month, you can pause your subscription to skip the current choice bundle.

I've personally been subscribed for more than two years, I think through paypal, and the payment is automatically each month, unless I pause.

how many games have you play from them ?
Thank you both for this information, _Auster_ and MadalinStroe. For some unknown reason Humble didn't want to apply my card this time. This is really strange, because I have used the same card during the Tabletop Bundle purchase. Well, I think I'll try some other time.

Played? What is this thing you call "play"?

Seriously... maybe 5-10... I'd have to go through my steam library and see what exactly I played and what matches my purchases from HB.

Game playing? What's that? ;)

All I do is play the meta game-count and increase the # of games that I own on services...and then just backlog most of them. ;)

REDESIGN INCOMING
BEGINNING FEBRUARY

https://blog.humblebundle.com/2022/01/11/humble-choice-is-leveling-up/
https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/articles/4411127626139
What happens to my membership as a current Lite, Basic, Premium, or Classic user?

With the update, we will no longer offer different tiers of Choice. This means that there will be a single standard plan with month-to-month and annual plan options. All members, excluding Lite plans, will be moved to the new standard $11.99 (USD) plan or annual equivalent (region pricing may vary).

Classic - You will continue to pay $11.99 (USD), receive all games every month, and enjoy all benefits of a Humble Choice membership. Classic members will still continue to be billed in USD only.
- SUB DISCOUNTS ARE CHANGING now between 10-20% based on the number of consecutive months you've unlocked -- the longer you've been subbed without pausing; the greater your discount

- FEWER games for the SAME money (for classic subs; less money for premium subs)

- Subjectively "better" games, whatever that means.

- No more picking & choosing; you get all the (fewer) games, all the time

- No Sub tiers

- Trove is going away and being renamed "HB Games Collection" (and also "HB Vault"); this requires an "app"-- I mean a program -- to download them (not browser) -- and you can only use this launcher if you are actively subbed.

++++++++++++

So my price will go up; my games will go down, and my sub discount will go away= even fewer purchases from HB store than previously

Sounds like you can play the Trove/Vault games you've downloaded even after you stop subscribing (you just won't be able to download new ones but that's same as now). The HBGC games are the ones you need to be subscribed to continue playing.
the redesign sounds oddly familiar...
My sub ends in feb the bundles have been very lacking of late.

Yup, sounds like they're ditching the Build-Your-Own-Bundle concept in order to go back to classic Humble Monthly while - oddly - keeping the Choice name (I guess they redefine it to mean their curative choice now, ha ha).

We've had the "smaller but more attractive game selection" discussion here before. It remains to be seen whether that's a good or a bad thing. Personally, I'm sceptical, because fewer games also means higher chances that I would not be interested in these particular games/genres, no matter how "valuable" they are, which might lead to even more pausing, but we'll see.

The discount resets and replacing the DRM-free Humble Trove with a subscription- and client-based Humble Indie "Game Pass" type of thing are definitely Good News (tm) in my book, not what I'd consider an improvement. I know they're not completely scrapping the Trove, but it sounds like they won't concentrate on adding to it anymore and you will have to use the client in order to access it.

Oh well. At least they put an end to those different subscription tiers and the silly premium price point.
