kalirion: Man, the Dec Monthly unlocks are underwhelming.

So from the final Monthly I'm keeping Yakuza and Chasm, while from the first Choice I'm keeping SotTR (non)Definitive, Blasphemous and Desert Child. Everything else is trade fodder atm, though if I don't arrange for good deals I might keep Horizon Chase Turbo and Aegis Defenders.
I enjoy Horizon Chase Turbo on PS4.

It does seem like a fun game, the problem is that I'm not into racing games. IIRC the last one that I played seriously from beginning to end was the first Flatout.

finkleroy: You mean you put all the contents of the bundle to upgrade to the definitive edition in your cart and checked out and it didn't charge you anything, and now all the DLC in that bundle show as being owned by you?
avatar
BeatriceElysia: Nope, I obviously got regular edition, but I'm able to upgrade.

So it's totally not non-upgradable.
Does it reduce the price of the full bundle or you need to pay the full price if you want to upgrade?

it reduces the price of full bundle. I was asked 26€.

finkleroy:
To clarify about Tomb Raider:

* If I follow your instructions and check Account Details -> Licenses and product key activations, the title listed there is just "Shadow of the Tomb Raider", no mention of "Definitive Edition", no DLCs.

* Humble advertises the Game as "Shadow of the Tomb Raider", "Definitive Edition" only appears in the small print that at the same time states that it will only include the base game, which seems absurd, but I think this confusion is caused by the following:

* On Steam the page for the base edition was renamed "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition". You can't buy the game on this page anymore, you can just click on a "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" bundle, which according to Steam contains Deluxe Extras, Croft Edition Extras, Definitive Upgrade and the base game, but since they renamed the page of the base game to "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition", the base game item in the bundle is shown as "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" now, which creates the paradox of the "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" bundle supposedly consisting of "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" + DLCs, where "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" actually stands for the base game only. So this mess is not just Humble's fault, but on Steam or the publisher as well. It's actually a bit less confusing on Humble, because they don't use "Definition Edition" in the game's thumbnail. So I think Humble isn't guilty of false advertising that much, they're just a little confused themselves.

* That being said, it's still typical and a bit lame of Humble to just offer the base game (and I wouldn't pay 26 EUR for the DLCs even if I got the main game for free). Also, it seems you can't buy items of the "Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition" bundle individually, so e.g. no "Definitive Upgrade" without "Croft Edition" or "Deluxe Extras", it's either all or nothing. The three extra content items still have their individual store pages but no individual buy buttons.

I'm going to pause this month, and if future Choice bundles don't get better, I might even cancel the Classic plan. (To be fair, the first month is very heavy on Strategy games - 6 out of 10 -, and there is Racing and Simulation on top of it, which probably explains why I find it so underwhelming, personally, apart from the Tomb Raider disappointment. I still have a tiny little bit of hope that future bundles might cater more to my own preferences or at least offer more variety in genres.)

Another lame thing that HB are doing is that you can no longer claim all the titles you're interested in and leave the others unrevealed. Now you have two options: create a gift link, or reveal the key so that you can redeem it. I guess they are trying to stop people from keeping locked keys on their accounts for years, in the hope of trading them away.

That's true. However, I noticed that on Fanatical, you can buy a Steam key for just the "Definitive Edition Upgrade". It's normally USD $29.99, but it's currently on sale for USD $14.99.

You can still do the equivalent but it's more cumbersome - just don't use your selections until you're ready to either redeem or gift. The Choice page will stick around and won't expire, at least based on what HB Support told me

The problem is that you didn't specify how long is "longer". I've seen a comment on reddit mention specifically that you can make a decision a month later. Until I see a clear answer, that the choices never expire, I'll continue to be wary of this.
Traded for the games I wanted so this month can go on pause :p

My question was about "month or years" down the line, and they said it simply doesn't expire. That should mean forever.

That's what I get for just scaning. That settles it. Thank you!

I'm not sure I understand - they changed the way how keys are revealed with Choice? What exactly happens now if you go to your bundle page and reveal a key? All the others are automatically revealed as well? Or is it just one key now? Can you still create individual gift links or not?

I guess form now on, we'll have an entry under the keys section of our account, like the one from the first image. When you decide to make a choice, you get an option like the one from the second image.

"Get the game", adds the game card to your keys section of your account, and reveals the key. While the "gift to friend", generates the usual gift link.

Still getting a sour deal currently. The lowest price the definitive (actual definitive, that is) was at during the recent run of holiday hooplahs was under $20USD, so assuming one pays at the lowest "classic" (~$12USD) price for the Humble swindle edition and decides to go for the Fanatical upgrade while it's on sale - they'll be paying at least ~$7USD more combined than the lowest for the game + the additional content on the recent sale.

It'll likely be months before the upgrade drops into a reasonable sale price that makes it less of a complete shafting to those who bought in on the Choice offer solely for that game.
