Typically people don't refer to disconnecting from the internet as a whole as "offline mode." That's disconnecting from the internet. If that's what is meant, it seems like bad or unspecific word choice.

I suspect that the reason it was not worded this way is because GOG, and a good number of users, are focused on emphasising the optional character of the client.
