Hey, all.

I'm pretty new to PC games, but I downloaded the first three Mortal Kombat entries a few days ago, and I've been learning how to map my controller with the DosBox key-mapper. Unfortunately, while there is an option to assign a Pause function, there appears to be no option to release it. Someone on a different message board suggested I try using the Alt key with the Pause button, but that didn't work. When I tried mapping the Alt function as a modifier to the Pause key, the game stopped responding at all and the key-mapper itself stopped appearing. I had to uninstall the game, reinstall it, slight alter the configuration text file, and then re-map the original button commands all over again. So now, I'm back to having an otherwise functional game, but it won't un-pause (so I'm not using it). If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I've had this bookmarked for years, but I never got around to testing it. Hope it helps.

That video is what initially taught me how to use the keymapper, but he doesn't cover how to reverse the Pause function. I posted a comment about it 2 days ago, but he hasn't answered yet. That's one reason I decided to ask here - I figured folks who regularly hang out on these boards might know a lot more than me.
D'oh!
By default, it's Alt+pause to toggle the pause. (put it and remove it)
Now depending on how the mapper is configured, that may be different, but I would be surprised that GOG alters that in the mapper configuration in the dosbox they ship with the games.

Well, I mapped the Pause key to a controller button, and tried pressing both it and Alt at the same time - nothing happened.

I tried and indeed, I couldn't set the dosbox pause to the controller. This is not the first time I have issues with dosbox and the mapper.

However there is another possibility : the game has a pause (alt+p), no need to use the dosbox pause.
Open the mapper, select the left alt, click add, click the button you want to use, and check the "hold" box in the bottom left. Then select the P key, click add, press the same button. Save and exit the mapper. During the game, pressing that button should make the game toggle the pause. (At least it worked for me)

Thanks so much - it works perfectly! No more issues now, I really appreciate it!
