I'm basically looking to set GOG Galaxy to install to a different location on my computer than "C:\Program Files (x86)" which seems to be it's default preference, and I'm not sure how you accomplish that. Normally I'd have expected there to be something like a, "Advanced: Set Install Directory to: X" sort of option with the installer, but I don't recall seeing that. By preference I'd like to install GOG Galaxy to my own internal Games Drive which is "G:Games" but I can't seem to see any way to do that save by migration AFTER it completes it's default path install.

Is this something I can do, or is the Default kinda hardcoded in there? Thanks for your help community, :)

This previous thread could provide some information:

Galaxy asks for the install location once you click on Install, just click on the current path and select browse.

EDIT: and under Settings - Download is an option to set a default folder.

Oh never mind, you mean the Galaxy Installer itself. Not sure if that's possible.

Mine is installed under H:\Gog Galaxy, so it is possible, I just don't remember how, sorry.
Okay, thank you, to StarChan, ignisferroque, and Khalan! I kinda figured I would need to install the base of GOG Galaxy to C Drive for whatever reason even if I could move the games themselves elsewhere, and this is just a temp thing till my new PC is ready. Glad for the input. :)

Realized yesterday I was not able to specify the install location for GOG Galaxy when doing the quick install from the Witcher 3 GOTY page, but when downloading the client invidually I was (SMH). Thanks again all, set up just perfectly to my games drive!
Hello everyone.

I seem to be having the same issue as SergeTroy that I can't install the GOG Galaxy Client in a different location than the "Program Files (x86)" folder. The installer doesn't give me any choice in the matter, which is weird because I just installed it the other day in a folder of my choice. What gives ?

Did you read the post above yours? Did you press the blue button on a game page?

Just don’t use it then, unless your into “achievements” or multiplayer it’s just another drm platform.

If you install it generically, maybe.
I tried to use it to install a specific game, no location was asked for.

I read this and nothing was of any use. Then i tried dragging the link into my "other drive" D.
Then lunched the installer from there. It then gave me the option where to install it.
I am now installing the Witcher to drive D. Not sure if that drive works..
Thus a new game platform for me and want to get it on D so i can test D.

Good Luck
As indicated - the answer is to download the installer, move/copy the installer to a different drive. Then run it from the new location - which will enable the option to change the install location. For whatever reason, running it from the download folder in windows keeps it from providing the option. Enjoy and Game on!
