I usually don't accept friend requests unless I've talked to the person in public first, or at the very least recognise them and could consider them a friend. As for communication channels without an associated public forum, I'd have to know them from elsewhere.

I may ask who they are if I don't recognise them, but if they don't give a satisfying answer, I decline or ignore them.

As no sensible personal info is depicted around here, I accept any friend requests. I must confess I've also thrown some random friend requests, too...

As far as I know, there's no much use in "friendship" on GOG. You can compare your achievements or look at the others' profile, or even play some multiplayer match. I have a bunch of friends on my list, but there are only about 2-4 I occasionally chat or trade with (hey, just like my phone!)
Depending on your chat settings, there's not much difference between friend and non-friend, so adding or not adding is just a personal choice.
I have one friend request iRoaruk who recently joined i believe and can't find any of his post on the forum so i didn't accept a friend request from him yet.
I ignore friend requests if I don't recognize the name.

If I have interacted with someone, and the interaction hasn't been hostile, and the user doesn't seem like they'd be sexist, transphobic, or similar, I will likely add the name.

If I see a post from someone who has requested me, there is a good chance I'll add the person from the post.

If the person is a bigot, I will actually *reject* the request; people who don't interact with me are likely to be simply ignored.

Users who appear to be something other than a straight male are more likely to be added by me.

P.S. If you have sent me a friend request that is still pending, and you want to be my friend, please send me a message or post in a topic I'm likely to check; otherwise, the request will just have to sit in limbo *forever*.
I usually decline but I am a misanthropic lone wolf by nature.
I always wonder if it's a request out of actual friendliness, or just FriendsList=FriendsList+1

That's probably a personal hang-up / foible on my end of the transaction.
Kleetus used to friend request me.
If I declined, he requested again.
If I accepted, he immediately unfriended me and then requested me again.

Sometimes I really miss him.

Yeah...NO I DON'T! :P
