I made a support ticket for this, but then it occurred to me that I may get a quicker answer here. I just got Riddick and Banished free from the fall sale, but they don't really interest me. The email with the game codes says I can give them to a friend. Would I just forward the email containing the redeem links to him or should I redeem and pass codes to him? I don't want to accidentally redeem them on my account.

If you redeem them they will be added to your account and you won't be able to give them away.

If you want to pass them on to a friend just send them the code or the email with the code and they can redeem it.

A quick way to do so would be to go the main page, right-click the redeem button and copy link's location. Do so for the other game as well and give both links to a friend.
