Hello;

Right now I see that Necropolis shows up as $16.29 USD for me in the GoG store while it is $29.99 USD in Steam. I asked over there in the Steam forums if there are any differences and I've been told that the game is also $29.99 USD in GoG... whuuut?!

Which made me remember when Dying Light a few months ago; the Steam version was $59.99 USD, and it showed up in GoG for $33.39 USD ($27.79 USD with the release promo back then).

So I am wondering... maybe it's because I am not in the US region? I thought I was. Is there a way to know what pricing region I am currently in?

Thanks!
According to MaGog Mexico has the same price as a lot of South American countries like Brazil, Argentina etc.

So you're probably getting a lot of games cheaper.
Add the game to your cart. You'll see what price you pay there, although whatever price is displayed for you on the site should be accurate.
Yes, we get regional pricing on several games here.

I'm puzzled by your comparison to Steam because the regional discount there is, usually, even deeper.
On Steam I see Necropolis price as Mex$ 269.99 which is less than $15 USD. (Sorry, other regions)

So... that means... I'm setup as US in Steam and as Mexico in GoG?

It's funny, because in the GoG settings I can change my Country (which, right now, is set to Mexico) but I cannot change the Currency (which is set to US Dollars)...

... <shrugs /> I dunno. It just makes decision making difficult, as I want the game, but I also enjoy some of the Steam extras such as achievements and all that jazz... but the price difference is quite significant.

Oh well.

That only changes the country that is displayed on your posts. Regional pricing is not based on that, I think.
We still have to pay in dollars, there's no option to pay in pesos.

Do you live in Mexico or are you just here temporarily?

If it's the first then I'd suggest you look up the option to change your contry on Steam since you'd get better prices in the long run.

Well... I... uh... it's complicated :P

Technically, I guess, yes, I live in Mexico; in a border city. Yet, I guess, my online (and to some extent, my real life too) identity lives in the US. Heck, I'm even paid in USD at my work place - which is a US organization. Almost every time I have a chance to choose where it is that I am located, I will choose US because it is less of a hassle with most region-locking things.

So, if GoG does it by IP address, then that would be the reason for mexican pricing. I deliberately chose US as my country of residence in Steam, and I am fine with that. I really don't have a problem paying full US prices.

Heck, it is quite possible that tax-wise, I have contributed more to the great state of Texas than Mexico, hahaha.

But, oh well, if GoG wants to keep it this way, I won't complain... unless they region-lock me out of games/content!
6. What are your prices in different countries?
All items on GOG.com are available in these currencies:
Australian dollars (AUD),
Canadian dollars (CAD),
Danish kroner (DKK),
Euro (EUR),
Norwegian kroner (NOK),
Polish złoty (PLN),
Pounds sterling (GBP),
Russian rubles (RUB),
Swedish kroner (SEK),
Swiss francs (CHF),
with other countries being billed in US Dollars (USD).
This should minimize the odds of you being charged extra by your bank, for making a currency conversion.
