With the gaming industry going to shit, games being cash grabs majority of the time now.....Does anyone have any good horror game suggestions that they personally love or loved playing?

If you want horror games just on Gog Eh the selection here is quite small but I can say Silent Hill 4 is good for the price, story and atmosphere..

Granted I mention that one purelly for I have yet to get into many actual horror games on my list I own thats on Gog at this timethat is

Depending on ones definition of what equals a horror game though as in a cartoony sense given the art style''the binding of Issac '' might fall into horror in a way and if price matters the base game is good but I would advise seeing as its one of those games that has the ''DLC for DLC'' get it and the dlc when on sale

If you want a punishing in a sense but is in varies ways a horror game then Darkest Dungeon

I would help more but again outside of afew horror games currently on here I own currently the majority I would truly class as some form of horror even if just visually if nothing else.. just have yet to get to ther others I got at this time
Some of these I've played and loved. Others I have wishlisted and look really good to me.

Bulb Boy
Carrion
Darkwood
Dead Space
Sanitarium
Strangeland
The Evil Within
The Evil Within 2
The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series
These a bit different from your traditional first person horror games.
I enjoyed all of them.

Inferno - Beyond the 7th Circle
Creepy Tale
Happy Game Demo
The Final Station

It's nice to see it appreciated. I bought The Final Station + The Only Traitor DLC nearly 2 years ago. I haven't played it yet. It's low priority since I watched a Let's Play and having seen the ending puts a damper on things.

(I also like the look of Happy Game, but it's not something I'm likely to buy)
I dont like horror games but still played SOMA a very good game , original and very good story , good environments + horror where you have to run and hide
I haven't played many horror games, but two I quite liked were Mary Skelter Nightmares and Mary Skelter 2 (sorry if I sound like a broken record). Also, from what I saw about it, the aforementioned Happy Game looks pretty interesting (and disturbing).
Even though it's not that scary, I'd recommend Fran Bow.

Also, many gamers swear on Devotion being a good game.
low rated
Nocturne is the best horror game, but it's only on physical disc, not Steam or GOG.

The Corpse Party games are also good horror games, except for the Birthday Party one specifically; that one is a comedy VN and not really a horror. And the title called "Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient" is an unfinished 1/5th of a game though, so that's a scam and I don't recommend to buy that one in particular. The other ones are worth it though.

Dying Light is also a good horror game. That's on GOG too.

Mary Skelter is also a good horror game, although part 2 is censored by default and you have to install an uncensor patch in order to restore it to its original version, and part 3 has been out on console for a long time but isn't on PC, and it's unknown if it ever will come to PC or not.

Wirvington: Also, many gamers swear on Devotion being a good game.
From what I remember seeing in discussions about the quality of the game, people say it's an alright game. Not bad but also not groundbreaking. And apparently, it's hardly jumpscary at all, using more psychological horror instead. People also mention Detention is better as a game experience. Sadly I can't confirm nor deny either, since I haven't played them yet and only know what I saw in discussions about them, but hopefully the information I said helps in any way.

And both games are purchasable in the dev's shop, both DRM free, if anyone's interested.
The Suffering was great. Loved the setting.

The sequel is definitely worse. Can't recommend it as much but may be worth a playthrough if you really enjoy the first game.

System Shock 2 has survival horror elements. Resources are scarce, and spawning enemies ensures players will not stay safe staying in one place for long. There is good use of sound that also adds to a tense atmosphere. I do find the endgame areas rather obnoxious though.

I haven't played these but I watched Let's Plays of them and enjoyed them. They're all horror-FPS:

- Condemned
- Cry of Fear (free on Steam)
- Nightmare House 2 (HL2 mod)
- Grey (HL2 mod)

The Grey devs have an upcoming game called Remorse: The List.

You could also check out horror YT channel scissormon and rodteabaggins for various ideas. Most of the horror games above I learned about through theRadBrad back in 2011 and 12. There are various free horror games (even decent ones) on itch.io.

One of my favourites: https://www.gog.com/game/clive_barkers_undying

Other than that:

I hugely enjoyed Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I can recommend it wholeheartedly. I haven't played any of its sequels, though.
I also second the recommendations for Undying and the Penumbra collection.

I'm playing it right now. It's certainly strange and unsettling.

I'd like it to come here.

...and a re-release of this one.
