Some other post with the same error code suggest that the .sh file is corrupted. I downloaded hollow_knight_1_4_3_2_23987.sh twice in a row and the md5 is 520af5e...while the one in the .sh file itself starts with "771". Could someone verify this for me, please?
Maybe go poke support.

So the download is not corrupted, I can see. Can you install though?
Installer output:
./hollow_knight_1_4_3_2_23987.sh

The game installed successfully and is working fine for me on openSUSE Tumbleweed 20200125.

Maybe you're missing some libraries.
