Hexen II, I like original game and I would also like datadisc for first game, apart from game breaking bugs, which led me to unfinished it. Different situation is with second game, which is based on quake engine. Main difference between “last” 2D games and first accelerated 3D game was huge. Despite significant technological leap 2D games was mature with lot of content in comparison to 3D games which were limited due to performance limit. It is exactly same with Hexen II what can be described as not totally linear corridor, but what must be highlighted is empty corridor. Basically there is nothing interest, so game builds on higher difficulty with strong enemies. At the beginning it is not so bad, but after some time it stops being rewarding. At the end I lost motivation why to continue.

After replaying many old shooters in recent years, I must say, that it dost no change much on my opinion. Best doom-like game for me is Heretic, best quake-like game Chasm: The rift and best fun shooter is original Shadow Warrior (inc. expansions).
