In the OP's defense (though it's a bit of a silly question, IMO), it wouldn't bother me if he or she is a legitimate license holder who chose to "pirate" a copy to get a backup or to replace a damaged disk.

But that does not obligate gOg to provide the download.

slowthinker84: I sent a message to you guys I think last week with a pic of my call to power 2 cd so I did not have to by a game that I already payed for or have. please allow me to download call to power 2. get back to me as soon as possiblle

Darvond: ...Dude, it's like 6 bucks. Consider the compatibility patches and digital ownership to be the price of admission. I've owned physical copies of games that are on GOG and not once did I ask for a free copy, because they were all cheaper than the retail copy.
Maybe the OP should invest that 6$ into a spelling and grammar course though ^^

jamyskis: This is what you're looking for.

No Call to Power 2 though.
Maybe he confused it with this offer: https://www.gog.com/news/master_of_orion_updated_reclaim_your_master_of_orion_1_2_and_3_retail_copies
I think the there were only been 3 or 4 games qualifying for such a redeem so far, don't recall which ones atm.

It is like Call to Power 1, times two.

Does it have a tutorial? Steep learning curve?
Don't recall if it has a tutorial, but if you can get through the Civilization/Alpha Centauri games, you should be fine.

tfishell: Where did you see such an offer for a free Call To Power 2 download based on sending in a photo of your original CD? I don't know if GOG has ever done that before.
I was able to do that on steam for my civ4 and civ4 expansions. the reason I chose gog over steam is that someone told me that I could play call to power 2 with mods with the gog version who claimed he was the owner of gog. is there any other way I can receive a call to power 2 download from gog without having to pay a fee since I already own a cd copy of the game myself? this is not a pirated pic, it really is my own cd pic. for those that helped/answered I appreciate it, thank you however for the rest, ya all are a bunch of haters, if your not going to answer my question or help then don't post in this thread or respond at all, I don't need all this unnecessary hostile negativity. WOW what a bunch of jerks

If you weren't acting like an entitled jerk who for no reasons demands to be given something for free then maybe we would have been less snarky. You could have, oh I don't know, started by asking if there is some way of redeeming your copy of the game on GOG, instead of going "hey guys, I randomly sent you a picture of an old CD, why didn't you give me a free game yet?!"

But did those games come with actual Steam keys or a CD-key that was also redeemable on Steam? That's how many retail Steam-tied games work: you may be buying the disc, but you can't actually play the game until it's redeemed on Steam first.

Did you mean to say he was an owner of some GOG games? Because if he actually claimed to own GOG, that should have been your first red flag.

Contacting Support is the only way you have any hope of getting this resolved, although I highly doubt it will happen. While I understand it's not ideal to buy the game again, since you already own it, that's just the way it works. Assuming you can't get your CD version to function with mods, then consider it paying GOG for the ability to get the game functioning that way So you'd still be getting value for your money.

I contacted support like 1 or 2 weeks ago and never herd back, perhaps they are very busy which is understandable. its not really a big deal, the price is reasonable and cheap.

They can't help it as it's very natural for most of them:)

It's true some of the forum users can be or get crotchety sometimes, for multiple reasons. Some are GOG-weary because of changes they disagree with, some are forum-weary because of assholes who have taken advantage of the forum or shitpost here, etc. :P And they take it out on newbies.

Anyway, no, owning a CD copy doesn't automatically qualify you for a free copy of a GOG game. Sorry, that's just how it is. I'd suggest forking over the $6 or - if you have patience - just wait for a sale, as the game will (I imagine) probably get down to $2 or less. (Put it on your wishlist.)

However, have you looked at ways to possibly getting your CD version to work with mods, like GR00T said?
