Post for Tallima since creating topics does not work.

Hey guys. I'll barely be able to check here today, but I'll review what you folks say after work.

I bought Freedom Force yesterday for a work trip and can't get it to run. I get a splash screen, my screen goes black, I get a cursor for a moment, then it crashes to desktop. I'm using a very old laptop I use to play old games that runs WinXP (no service packs). Dell Inspiron 5100 It exceeds all requirements.

My thought is that I may be missing some sort of codec or something, but I really don't know. I have Direct X 9.0c Does anyone have any tips I can try?

Thanks!

moonshineshadow:
I think I had the same issue on the same OS a few years back, and I THINK the solution was to apply some patch (possibly fan made).

Unfortunately I no longer have the disc and that laptop is dead, so cant be of any more use.
Thank you Moonshine!

Is that the problem where a new thread does not show up in general discussion?

Interesting. I wonder if that's what's going on. It comes and goes every few months for me.

Make sure that Freedom Force is patched to the newest version (1.3) to begin with. After that you will want to set compatibility to WIN98/ME. Since I have this installed on my WIN7 rig, I'm not too sure whatelse will work as some of the solutions that I found are not possible on WINXP.

If the game runs, but you have further issues with the mouse cursor and game commands you will have to disable V-Sync directly in the graphics card game profile. You might also have to downplay the resolution to avoid this issue if it does show up.

The latest patch can be found here:
