First of all, before I continue; I must apologize in advance if this is in the incorrect forum section - I'm a bit lost whilst navigating this forum so if a moderator could move this to the correct section I would greatly appreciate it.

Basically, I installed the Witcher 3 via the galaxy client, and everything has been fine since. I've racked up probably 80 hours in total and decided to try out some mods; this is where it all went wrong.

To cut to the chase, I wanted to remove all mods that I had installed to the game, however a lot of the files were already changed; and I couldn't remember which bits were original and which bits were modified. So I thought that if I deleted those files, then clicked 'Verify/Repair' on the galaxy client; it would simply download the missing/original files (like it does on Steam).

Instead, what happens is the client tries to download the WHOLE game again, despite 99% of the files still in their original folders. Is there any way to fix this other than reinstalling the whole game again?

I understand that it's probably my fault for not backing up the original files before modifying them, so if there isn't a way to download just the missing files then I'll just have to reinstall the game again.

Also, if I have to reinstall the whole game - Will my game time + achievements still appear as what they were in the galaxy client before the re-installation, or will they reset?

Thanks and sorry about the long winded post!

Well, its been said many times before. Download the installer files via browser download (i.e. goto your account on gog, and click each one). They are packed up so you will need all the bin files and the exe. You can then keep these on an external HDD or something, and any time you need to install them just copy over and run the exe to re-install. As they are packed up they will be smaller than the whole game. From what I have seen on here Galaxy downloads the game unpacked, so its much bigger, there is an option to keep a backup once downloaded - you would need advice from someone who uses it - but it probably wont help you if you have modified things.

I probably jumped the gun a bit and didn't plan as well as I could have. Although it would be cool if the GOG Galaxy client would simply reinstall missing files if it detects any that aren't there (that's what Steam does, makes it a little easier to repair a game, rather than downloading it again). Then again, this is a beta client as far as I'm aware so it could be a possibility in the future.

I've just reinstalled the whole game and it seems to be working again fine now-
Thanks for your comment anyway, I'll keep it in mind in case I run into this problem again.

Thanks again
