Hello, my friend showed me this site some while ago. I eye this site for a while now. Since I've been discontent with steam, this seem perfect place to join - if GOGs library isn't as small as it is.

I been rpg, roguelikes, nice indies and pretty platformers fan. So, I see plenty of that on GOG, but I mostly own them on steam and I have no plan of abandoning my bulk of games on one platform and spending lots of money on same these, just on other website.

I only have problem with lack of curation, I simply can't stand all these sexual games that actually glorified interactive novels, so it seems Gog perfect place for me... but maybe I have no reason to move from steam to GOG?

What could I buy here?
I planned to post link to my collection, but it seems I don't have permission?

New forum users have to raise their Rep score to post URL.

GOG also introduced visual novels and hidden object games recently.

I think you could browse this site with genres you like, for example:
https://www.gog.com/games?search=role%20playing

I myself have digital downloadable games on GOG, Steam, Humble Bundle, itch.io, Origin, Ubisoft.

Oh jesus.

Sexual games.

No problems with people being blown up, shot, stabbed, set on fire, thrown off cliffs, lynched, fired into the cold vacuum of outer space and torn limb from limb by Elder Gods.
No, it's the sexual stuff you have a problem with. XD

I give up. I quit. I'm moving to another planet, far far away; something in the Lando System.
Wait, Lando System? Lando isn't a system, it's a man!

I'm so confused!

If those VN are sold as BOOKS, on book page, I would probably just ignore them. I have no issues with sex. I myself are proud owner of good Mary Skelter and Witcher on steam and I love reading romance novels, although I dislike erotic ones.
I don't know why are they deem as games, but steam lacks curation.

Steam lacks curation, but the curated gog still features visual novels and erotic games. Not my genre either, so I cannot really comment on their quality, but I mostly trust gog's curation, and assume that if they're here it's because they are good enough.

Just saying, before you panic upon stumbling upon them. Gog curation is not incompatible with that genre. Also... digital interactive stories are neither books nor movies, and I'd put them in the game category (that I consider pretty elastic), but that's a whole debate. Which touches upon the "walking simulator" genre that I happen to like very much. Can of worms, there.

Anyway. Too many good games for general suggestions, there. There's a strong focus on oldies, but not everyone appreciates old crude graphics and interfaces. If you do, give a try to : Wasteland, Fallout, Arcanum, Planescape. They are excellent old RPGs. Eschalon and Geneforge and excellent old-school indie RPG. Arx Fatalis, Morrowind, Gothic 2 are more recent, and fantastic. Prince of Persia Sands of Time is a classic 3D acrobatic platforming game with a heart of gold. FTL, Kerbal, Zomboid, Into the Breach and World of Goo are indie at their best. The Blackwell saga is the zenith of indie point-and-clicking narration. Braid is a classic platformer with a twist. Maybe all these things are well known, many of them are notorious on steam too. But, hey. Lots of things to "start with".

(Including : starting with ignoring apehater's trolling.)

We've recently added a few indie titles that are catching eyes with their styles, might worth having a look at!

Welcome along. I hope you enjoy the place and the selection of games.

For the 'sexual' stuff, well, it's a very small percentage of the catalog at this time. And so far it appears to be mostly wink-wink nudge-nudge innuendo stuff and the occasional gratuitous boob. It seems to me - based on descriptions - is that a fair bit of it IS of the romance variety. Not my cup o' tea, so maybe some other folks can expand on that.

Anyway, I'm currently very much enjoying UnderRail. Feels like a modern-day Fallout, as far as game mechanics go, plus crafting. Exploration-heavy and fairly open world, in that you don't seem to be limited by character level to get to various places in the world. I also like that it's simple enough to learn without a manual or a drawn-out tutorial, but has a depth to it that the player can intuit simply by playing. I was a bit worried at the beginning, when the game didn't tell me how to do this and that, but after maybe 5 hours it all clicked. Meanwhile, about 20-30 hours in it's adding new stuff for me to learn to deal with. Also feels like there will be a lot of replayability to it, what with a variety of ways to build your character and solve problems.

Whats your problem?
"people being blown up, shot, stabbed, set on fire, thrown off cliffs, lynched, fired into the cold vacuum of outer space and torn limb from limb by Elder Gods" = less people = good

"sexual stuff " = more people = bad

apehater: Try steam where one don't get scammed. all you get here are abandoned, unfixed, broken games and a horrible support. there are better ways to waste money!
Haahhhaa, hah hah haa, ha ha, LOL, ROLF, couch, couch, couch. Ehem.

Let me list 1000+ never to be complete forever EA games on Steam for you. Or the hundreds of alpha games released as complete on Steam. Or Thousands of asset flips on Steam. Or 1000 copies of same game made just to make money out of Steam cards system, you guessed it, on Steam. Or... Or... Or...

I have over 5500 games set to ignored on Steam. over 95% of them are rubbish games or games abandoned by their devs. And that's just tip of the iceberg.

You seem to ignore the fact that the sexual content in these games (and video games in general) is usually meant to make up for something (i.e. lack of overall quality and value). They are designed to draw blood from your brain into your dick to cloud your critical judgement. The visual novels on GOG with sexual content also offer abysmally bad writing, I dont think there is a single VN on GOG with good writing.

Sexual content in video games also offers a much, much lower level of correlation in the gameplay than violent games. These games that allow you to have people "being blown up, shot, stabbed, set on fire, thrown off cliffs, lynched, fired into the cold vacuum of outer space and torn limb from limb by Elder Gods" allow you to execute those actions yourself. The sexual content on the other hand is usually associated with low correlation gameplay, such as a few clicks here and there to select dialogue options.

People who complain about that are using 'sexual content' to refer to what I described above, not the sex by itself.

On a side note, isnt it ironic that we now see users making forums post to ask what they can buy on GOG? It shows how broken the new website is. Also its always funny when mods delete comments with criticism but someone else quoted it so it remains visible.

@Petrell At least Steam allows you to filter out undesired games and offer a respectable refund policy. You dont risk your money when buying from Steam. The trading card farmers and asset flippers have been taken care of in recent updates too.
