People being pissed off with CD Project Red, because they released a meme instead of a game that costs 60€. People mad at Gog for bending down to Chinese Communist Party, and agreeing not to publish the game called Devotion, which mocks the mighty, supreme, tyrannical, genocidal, corrupt, thief, assassin, communist leader, like your casual communist leader elsewhere, of China. And the winter sale was lame with their poor discounts. That is it so far, those are recent highlights.

Sounds like it may have been a good time to stay where I was.

Steam is still evil, though EGS is moving up on the list
gOg still makes many strange and mindboggling decisions
no one are clear about what DRM really is, so no change there
the games gOg release are either horrible or fantastic, both at the same time. there are either too many or too few old games
the forum is still broken, but yes some new rules

1. A growing number of games on GOG have partial (admittedly minor) DRM, including No Man's Sky and CD Projekt's own Cyberpunk, with certain non-essential elements locked behind the need to go online to unlock them.

2. GOG made a deal with Epic to make it possible to buy games from Epic store through Galaxy, including games with DRM, meaning GOG now makes a profit off of selling DRM-ed games (just not here).

3. On the say so of Chinese censorship GOG backed out of releasing a horror game Devotion.

4. Moderation on the forum sucks.

5. Users too.

Remember your screen name from way back; thanks! Thank you. Was concerned a bit earlier, as I like the Chinese people, but not the way they go about business. I guess it should be expected, as all else decided to be consumers, and not producers. Every producer is a consumer, but the inverse cannot be said.

Is a gaming site, so I'll knock off my ideas, but much to the chagrin of many, I still liked Witcher I the best!

Since The Enigmatic T left GOG, not much has happened. During that time not much interesting happened. Lots of dramas and stuff, but nothing really important that would cause too much of a ruckus. The only big thing that happened is that GOG focuses even more greatly on indie games now than old games compared to back in 2015, which is a move I don't fully agree on but its their business and they know best. Personally I feel that they should focus on releasing only the best indies and focusing on aquiring older games (perhaps they did that but licenseholders didn't respond) that have not yet seen release on other stores.

Well, at least the games library got really diverse thanks to the indies, which is nice.

However, there are some grand releases in recent times. A few weeks ago we've witnessed the release of Heretic and Hexen. Its a good times to enjoy ye olde gode games again. At least someone on here with common sense :P!

Witcher 1 was excellent, a good homage to Gothic in gameplay. Not copying the game, but rather refining expectations. If you haven't played Gothic 1 and 2 then you should, its absolutely incredible. I still think that The Witcher 1 has the best demo version ever made.

The other Witcher, while nice, became too cinematic and the Witcher 3 had to much "moral grayzoning" going on to keep me interested. Also the ending of Blood and Wine, while being a great DLC, had a really bad way to convey itself.

IMHO Cyberpunk has a better way to convey its plot than The Witcher 3 but its also seriously cinematic which is something I'm not really a huge fan of.

Speaking of the forum, I think we can summarize its changes in this way: more rules, less moderators, more hate of GOG, less love of GOG and same bugs.

What shits me is they can block games in other countries like Australia and Saints Row IV, Drakensang and others but Oh noes... not Devotion have to ban it Kompletely XYZomrade because of the CCP!

Same here. Got back to gaming a few months ago after nearly a decade. Things aren't quite the same and the mods are stricter.

Overall, the community at GOG is still pretty awesome despite the Cyberpunk and Devotion debacle.

I find it strange to see a few games with DRM here. It is perhaps due to the times that we live in. Offline installers take an eternity to download as well and aren't kept as up-to-date, with the focus being on galaxy.
