I haven't bought anything off GOG for awhile (or much digitally at all, for that matter), and am wondering if I missed some news about this. When I was looking at the sale on now, multiple games struck me as having a regular price that is much higher than they used to be. I thought it might be because it's showing prices in my local currency (Canadian), but even with that taken into account, when I checked the games' prices on Steam (which is also set to Canadian for me), most of them were $4-5 cheaper there. Some were even more (ex. Dreamfall Chapters is $33 there vs. $45 on GOG, Dying Light is $60 there vs. $77 on GOG). Am I correct in thinking prices have been hiked?

must be something in the water..
GOG has variable pricing based on exchange rates (which they update now and then) so they'll usually differ from Steam to some extent. In Canada's case that's not favorable from seeing it mentioned on occasion it seems.

And they just updated prices before the sale so it should be current with the latest exchange rates.

Are you looking at all prices with the same currency? (bottom right on GOG, top of the black bar)

Could be a conversion difference or possibly regional pricing.
No, prices haven't been hiked as far as I know. It's just that Steam gives a regional discount to Canadians while GOG does not. You just haven't noticed it before since CAD only recently arrived on GOG and GOG does correct money conversions depending on the exchange rate.

So you still pay the same price as people in the US on GOG as you always did. It's just more obvious now that GOG shows you how much that is in CAD.

It was only this May that GOG introduced the Canadian currency. Before that, you were seeing the price of the game in USD, so no, there has been no price hike. Dying Light still costs 60 USD, but since the Canadian dollar is noticeably weaker than the US dollar, the equivalent exchange price is 77 CAD.

Why the price difference with Steam? Because Steam has fixed prices across the board, while GOG doesn't (for the most part). That means that prices will fluctuate according to the exchange rate getting stronger or weaker, so if the Canadian dollar gets stronger, the equivalent price will drop.

I see. Thanks for the answers everyone.
Just a little thing here, they did convert to CAD but they have yet to update the prices cause the dollar is constantly changing and going up now we are at what 73 cents now and they still have prices at the 70 or 69 cent range. now is the time to get games during the sale, And just wait maybe at end year they will update the prices to the recent changes of our dollar.

Actually, GOG's fairly close on this. The CDN dollar is currently around 79 cents US (78.77 on Bank of Canada's website). Converting, say, The Witcher 3 at $25 US comes to 31.75 CDN. It's listed as $32.29 CDN on GOG's sale page. So fairly close.
