While I was living up north England, a housemate of mine was trying to buy a DVD off Amazon. Three times he complained his order had not arrived, on the fourth Amazon refunded his money and simply apologised that there was nothing that could do to get the package to him. They use the UK postal service, and someone was stealing from them.
A friend of mine informed me that the checks in the delivery system are pretty solid, and it's your local postie that is probably doing it (I have no evidence of this).
Hats off to Amazon to send the package 3 times before giving up. They should consider however, that they might not be so prone to poaching and sabotage if they'd just start packaging things in an indistinguishable box as opposed to something with "Amazon" written on it that is the shape of a DVD.
EDIT: My housemate complained by phone to the postal sorting office, and received a response of "Yeah, we've had a lot of calls about this recently". No indication they'd do anything about it.
