Wow, has it been 10 years already?
I've fallen in love with this service on my first visit. I did an internet search for "Baldur's Gate", since my discs for that game as well as the rest of those Interplay/Bioware D&D games were too tired to run anymore. I still have all of the discs in their boxes with all of the wonderful goodies that came with them.

GOG said that they loved how those games came with all of that stuff, so they digitized it all and made it a LOT easier to install and play those beloved games... I bought them all, downloaded all of the digitized goodies, etc.,

I also have Neverwinter Nights discs, their boxes and all of the glory that came with those sets as they came out - so when those came to GOG, I bought those too. I was a big player in the modding community for NWN 1 and its expansions... it was cool to get a Diamond edition as a permanent DRM-Free digital collection, along with Obsidian's cool follow-up.

Oh... right. I was mentioning that I was a mod-maker for NWN. Through that collective, I heard rumors that a company in Poland was making a new game using Bioware's Aurora engine called "The Witcher". I'd heard tidbits here and there, but kept busy on NWN.

I accidentally let the release of The Witcher go by unnoticed, since I have always loved the character-creation process D&D type games offer. I wasn't really interested in playing someone that someone else dreamt up. I was so wrong to think that way.

GOG hit me with these amazing deals on Enhanced Edition collections for The Witcher 1 & 2 as 3 was nearing release. The hype at that time was pretty astounding. Let's pause there for a bit:

I'm not what I would call a "Gamer". I spend more time working with 3d models, environments, their textures, morphs, and animations, than I do playing games - that's why only a very select few have been mentioned so far.

Well, GOG's package deals that come with games often included art and/or music, etc., I actually bought quite a few games without any intention of playing them, but to add their vocal-free game scores to my "Work Tunes" playlists. Amazing how excellent some of the music is for so many games these days. Was it Baldur's Gate that inspired that whole revolution? Feels that way to me.

Okay, back to "The Witcher"

I started with the first two - bought both Enhanced Editions together - or near abouts, I think... but only started with the first. It came with SO MUCH cool stuff, that I really took my time listening to the music and absorbing the absolutely stunning art book! Yikes! They loved how games came with cool stuff... but CDPROJEKT RED went waaaay over the top! So cool!

So I started playing the game. Wow! I now feel myself becoming much more of a gamer than ever before - all because of GOG.

Hairbrained schemes' Shadowrun series blew me away! Played all of them a few times through already. Getting a new video card sent as I type this so that I can totally immerse myself in The Witcher 3. I don't always have time for gaming. But I love buying games from GOG, just to own them - so I can delve into whatever my mood might steer me toward at any given time.

I bought most of the Star Wars games and a whole slew of various other things I have no clue about yet. Always wanted to try Fallout, so I bought most of those. I guess a lot of them just have a cool story in their description. Just buying them is an inspiration all its own.

Hey GOG, here's one customer you've had since fairly early on whom has been quietly appreciating all that you do right from the very first visit... and I thank you for that!

Happy Birthday!
Dartanbeck

I guess a lot (all?) of my 3d art is inspired by games and/or the similar stories that drive them

Hmmm... attached an image but....
