I know that it might be kind of weird since it's gonna be a F2P game, but man, It would be just REALLY awesome if the new Gwent game that's coming out gets a retail release, and can be played offline, like, it would sound kinda dumb, but that feature alone would make it worth paying for to me.

Even more so if they release paid for expansions Hearthstone style later on, maybe get the retail copy later on with all of them unlocked and on the disc, something like that maybe? idk, It's just that, since this is going to have an official The Witcher story mode and why not, it just will feel kinda wrong knowing that it's a F2P game destined to get shut down eventually. Not even mentioning how cool it would look on a shelf by itself.

And considering it's by CDPR, so closely related to GOG, it would actually be kinda cool and fitting if they did something like this. Also on a side note I was going to post this on the wishlist but I think that would be kind of annoying and irrelevant.

Yeah, I know they didn't deny nor confirmed or even mentioned anything of the sorts, but since it's a F2P game I am kiinda led to believe it will require an internet connection. Tho that would be very weird coming from CDPR.
Gwent will be a F2P game?! I didn't know that. This some kind of sucks.

Yes, tho they did went on a lot of detail about how they wanna balance the game so that paying doesn't give you any real advantages, and how the game is about pure skill rather than RNG.

And I mean, not like anyone would say otherwise about their own game, but you know, I actually kinda trust the people saying it this time around.

I think they have to earn some money. Programmers, art designers and so on don't work for free. So in F2P games they have to urge you in some way to spend money. The only question is how. It's ok that they get money for their work but I don't like the concept of how they earn the money in F2P games. In games where you spend money once it's foreseeable how much you spend. In F2P games you spend here and there some bucks not foreseeable how much the sum will be (mostly much more).

For me it's also a psycholgical aspect. When I read "free to play" I expect every content for free and no privileges for other players. So I'm not willing to pay anything. That's the reason why every F2P game I already tried out sucked. If you don't pay you are limited in content or your game progress or unlockables are very slow.

Such collectible card games live from getting new cards. Ok there might be no ultimate card you can buy that you get an advantage in that way but if you have to play for example for one month to unlock a new card, this would suck too.

Do you have a link? I would love to read more about this.
I highly doubt this will happen. The GWENT team is pretty busy right now and after release, they have to work on the nilf deck and maybe versions other than PS4. And then, there are still the work on new campaigns and expansions, etc...
There is a Gwent offline game. It's called Witcher 3. There's an RPG adventure attached.
There has been a physical edition, but limited (and out of stock now): https://www.jinx.com/mobile/gwent?catid=

Glad I could grab it!! (the whole thing was 29.99 dollars for two decks of 150 cards each + rules and tokens, if I remember well)
Im like 99% sure they have already said gwent will feature a full single player experience for playing offline, just not while in beta. Also they said they designed a really cool feature to keep the game balanced even if you dont spend money. The game is probably small, not sure a retail release is all that needed.
A couple of the questions/concerns raised in this thread are answered in the official FAQ.

Yes, it has already been confirmed about the single player campaigns. One for each faction and you can play them offline after initial download but what OP is asking for is a bit different than that.

Oh, I know it's not necesary, but when have videogames been about what's absolutely necesary?
