Yes, it's Fallout.

Sorry, this wasn't a proper question. I didn't have anything, and wanted to pass this on quickly.

Oh yeah! Sounds fun though!
This level where I'm searching the crashed supply ship is a bitch - the place is infested with these '[redacted] Worm' thingies that look like the snakemen from X-Com, but unlike their X-Com counterparts, they like to cloak themselves invisible until they're right on top of you!
And it's really dark in here, did I mention that?
What was that? *wheels around*

*edit* took out the exact name of the worm things because I figured it would be too easy to google...

Actually - just realised I've used that one before! Doh!

Different one then:

Fresh out of the academy, I've traveling by sea when I'm attacked by strangers, I wash up on a forbidden / restricted area island and find that there are no others of my kind around, however there ARE plenty of our servants - they seem to have been here, alone for quite a few generations and have split into 3 factions - one that are still loyal to their missing masters, one that wants to work with us as equals and one that's gone a bit mad and hates us

I'm on a quest to save all of my friends from a spell which crystallized them! In order to do that I have to travel through several different lands.

Ah, I was really curious about the butterfly eating one. Is it the same game?

Anyway, for this one, what's the genre?

Yep! I wanted to leave it as the next hint, but since you saw it here it is: :)

My friend likes eating butterflies.

It's a platformer.

Yep!

Also, ZFR, you're a small purple dragon and your friend is a dragonfly who eats butterflies and by doing so can make you make you regain some HP. :)
Nobody wants to step up? ;)
