Looks like it kicks ass all over the place. In most cases it is faster or as fast as 980 SLI.

The true question is... buy on release of wait for Ti.

Haha I used to have a GTX 650 was a nice little card for it's day.

Since my budget is definitely in the red I doubt I'll get one, but I'm interested in seeing how much it'll cost over here.

Yeah, I'm still running a Core i7 920. Really, my rig's running fine with my games, but I'm jonesing to do another build.

I think most things (at least when it comes to any kind of technology) are going to lose value over time. Unless you wait long enough for them to become antiques. =)

Luckly I have a lot of old games to play while I wait for these GPUs to lower their prices..

Wait till they depleted their stock of ancient GDDR ram and start shipping these new cards with HBM2 ram.

In that case you could do as I did and install a Hexacore Xeon on your existing X58 motherboard.
It's a fun experiment and it turns out that even on stock clocks it's faster than my OC'ed (to 3,8 GHz) i7 920 :)

Good good. Release new 1080, so 980ti can get cheaper for me to upgrade to. :p

I'll have to look into that, since I'm gonna have a tough time convincing my wife I need to biuld a whole new rig. :P

Crikey, those things are expensive. A guy could build an entire reasonably decent gaming rig for only a couple hundred dollars more than the price of one of those cards.

I'm more interested in GTX 1070 but I don't intend to upgrade as the GTX 970 is still a beast especially since I still play at 1080p but I've noticed how great DSR is, both by bringing out the crisp quality of texture and the AA effect, I don't need 4K resolution but 2K is great (twice the pixels of Full HD).

As for upgrading, there's really only two interesting questions:
1) Do you need it?
2) Can you spare the cash?
If you answer yes to both, then avoiding an upgrade is irrational. ;)
