Mafwek: While I agree with everything you said, I buy things depending on their actual cost, not discount. 50% off is like, 10 USD/EUR, it's not hugely expensive.
Edit: I mean, okay if you are buying just to expand your collection, then yes. I would wait until it drops even more. But I am working on abolishing that mindset myself.
How expensive gaming has become here in Brazil in the last years thanks to the fucked up exchange rate is a subject I've discussed in a few other topics here over the years, so I won't go so much into that point.
Personally, as I spent about an year and a half unemployed not as long ago as I'd like, much of my expending habits were kinda cut short by it (and not as much as they should).
Recently, I've been comparing game prices to lunch meal prices to justify buying them (I usually spend around 20 - 30 bucks on a lunch). And it's a balance between discount/actual cost. For example, I've spent a lot of time waiting for Street Fighter V's season packs to get cheaper. I had set R$9,99 for season 1 and R$19,99 for season 2 as maximum prices I'd be willing to pay. I ended up buying S1 for R$14,99 because I had a few bucks from card sales to cut a bit the price I'd actually pay (technically, I spent less than 9,99), but the very next sale, about a month later or less, I don't recall, featured the pack at that R$9,99 price. Recently, S2 has gone under the R$20,00 price, but since I have uninstalled the game and was not playing it anymore, I didn't pick it up. But I probably will in the future.
Grandia II itself, is a game I have an interest not only because it's good, but because, for a time, it was a late friend's favorite Dreamcast game. He had a pirate copy that would break near the end and he could never replace it with a working one. So he never got around to finishing it and I feel like I'd love to play it through and finish it as a way to celebrate and remember our good times together. But that doesn't mean I'll be able or even willing to play it through as immediately as I'd like. And I could even end up not liking the game, which would make everything harder.
