Since this thread is necro'd I'd like to jump in and say something related: Play Venetica! It's a hidden gem with beautiful aesthetics and hack-n-slash combat.

With the same caveats as always, since it hasn't been updated: Do not save on any map where there are NPCs because they may vanish, keeping in mind that skeletons can also count as NPCs because later you'll be able to see spirits, and do not lose reputation to the point of needing to buy it, at least if you don't play in German, because that dialog is bugged.

What do you mean? NPCs are present in ( almost ) every location. I've played through the entire game twice, I do save often, and I've never encountered such bug.

Also had no issues with that. The reputation dialogue is indeed bugged though, IIRC.

Well, it has been a known bug all along, you'll find many discussions about it if you do a quick search. Admittedly most reports of it seem to come from the console versions, though over on the heated place someone confirmed it on a version from Gamersgate, but indeed, see no mention of it here and in those threads over there the rest say they haven't experienced it, so it is possible that it was fixed, but considering the potential harm and the fact that it may be a long time before you realize it, I never risked it, using a guide of safe saving locations, and in case there was none around at least saving in areas with a single NPC or two, with them out of sight when I save, and then reloading immediately and checking that they were still there (indeed, always were still there, but used this method as sparingly as possible).
