Heading for the finish line – 80% off.

Haven't gotten behind the wheel of this legendary racer just yet? Be speedy – because Race Driver: GRID will be leaving our catalog on December 31, 2016.

Considered one of the most timeless, refined moderns racers – we're sad to see it go, but you can still grab the game now at 80% off, all the way up until December 31, 10:59 PM UTC.

Vrrrrooom, vrrrrooom.

A brief trip down memory lane, this is how GRID was first introduced to GOG.com:
Rrrrrrrnnnn! EEEEEEERRrrrrnNNNNNN!

Vrrrrooom! If you like fast cars, tight turns, and pulse-pounding races, then today's release is sure to please: Race Driver: GRID--known in the US simply as GRiD--screeches over the finish line!

In GRID, you're a driver with dreams of going big: you start out driving in others' cars for money, but soon enough you'll start your own team, picking the races you want to compete in, buying the cars and equipment that you need to get the advantage over the other drivers, and traveling the world to compete. With 43 cars and 3 different regions to compete in--the US, Europe, and Japan--there's plenty to captivate adrenaline junkies. But that's not all: GRID also features an innovative "flashback" system, whereby you can rewind time a few crucial seconds to fix any sloppy driving or mistakes, avoid crashes, and generally gain the needed edge to win. With open wheel racing, demolition derbies, GT racing, there's plenty of variety in gameplay.

Real road courses such as Le Mans are in the game, as well as street circuits such as such as the Detroit and Washington D.C.. There are also a number of fictional tracks, such as street courses in San Francisco, and Milan, and Mount Haruna.

Is that enough to get your pulse pounding? Check out Race Driver: GRID
Thanks for letting us informed. It's time to buy two copies. One for myself and second for future giveaway:)

armedready: This game was free from humble bundle so I wonder if it'll get removed from steam as well.

I wish we had more driving games on here.
avatar
KiNgBrAdLeY7: Highly unlikely. In Steam it is a SERIES.
Dirt 1 and 2 got also removed. Only Dirt 3 and Showdown available on Steam ...
Sad to see one of the best games on GOG being removed and it doesn't help that there's so few racing games on here. Thanks for informing your customers though.
... Okok; I got curious and it looks good. Will probably be a bit awkward to not throw grenades at or shoot tires of other cars that annoy me. :P

deja65: Guys,i need some help :D.Today i bought one gift copy of GRID since it is going away, but i wanted to buy three more so i can gift it to other GOG-ies and my family members ;),but on the checkout page it says i need to wait for 24 hours before i can purchase another gift copy of GRID.And...... since it is leaving the store on the 31 of this month that is kind of a bummer. If anybody knows a solution, fire away :D.Cheers
I can buy a key for you if you like , think of it as a belated xmas present :)

You'll need to temporaly enable the chat setting in your account so i can PM you the key.
Yes, pick it up if you are interested, it's one of Codemasters best games. Lots of variety and a nice Career mode.
It's on the arcade side, there's no need to practise or anything, so just jump in and have fun with it.
I really enjoyed it at the time, but these days I stick to orthodox sim racing (all the racing games I have time for).

amrit9037: what if even GOG receives those mails late from publishers and had to remove game without notice?

Second: "License issue" is the answer for all game removal questions!!!
In that case, the gog bears should've planned ahead & put something in the contracts, stating that they have to be given Nth amount of time before they have to remove a game from the store.
Would (possibly) lead to more sales at it gives folk longer to grab it before it's gone too.

win/win

"Hey guys, I own the rights to the old Warcraft games, so feel free to start selling them here. If you do get notice to remove said games from the store, you can keep selling them for 72 more hours. Remove them from sale after that, 3 days should be enough of a warning period."

See the problem with the above contract statement? Sometimes an unforeseen rights issue pops up, and the game should be removed from sale yesterday. No clause will keep the game up, though some clauses can be financially significant.
If it's a case of an expiring license (like GRID or Fallout), GOG does usually give enough warning, but when it's a possible rights issue, GOG doesn't (Dark Fall for example).

Bonsewswesa: There really needs to be some clause in these contracts that requires games pulled from sale to remain available on an archive somewhere, like a WayBack machine for games or something, so there's some official way to preserve them outside of personal collections.
avatar
Xinef: There's plenty of people who believe laws should be introduced to preserve abandonware, and generally all digital works of art (including books, movies, songs, paintings etc.) that are no longer available for sale. So something along the lines of "If you can't buy it anywhere, then state libraries have the right to store it and make it available for free, or for a small fee to cover the costs of acquisition, storage, etc.".

This would be much better than a contract, since neither publishers, nor their license providers, would be able to avoid it, other than keep selling the item in question.
Yes please, this would be a service to cultural folklore and wouldn't have any meaningful impact on income either. I honestly see no legitimate reason why this type of policy should not become the new international standard.

Primo_Victoria: Good riddance.

Now get Grid Autosport.
Only if it comes with Linux & Mac support ;P
Wish I was here when TOCA 3 and CMR '05 were here. At least I grabbed Revolt during the short time it was here. Already had GRID in an earlier sale, and got it on Steam from the HB giveaway.

There really should be a way to get games that have been removed for licensing issues. These stupid conditions to have games removed from existence is intolerable.

That is a very vague response. I want details. What car manufacturer demanded them to remove it? whos fault is it?
