Zurvan7: But seriously though have you guys had any scamming or other trading issues? with that get lugum banned thread a mod suggested we could stop gifting, trading for a while (he didn't say you should). But I don't think anyone has found any problems lately?
No issues here. Most of my activity here is swapping duplicates with members that I know from the community. This is done in an atmosphere of generosity and trust. The "shark mentality" that I don't like on pure trade forums is notably absent here, simply because most of the people I've had contact with are GOGlodytes that also happen to swap some spare games, rather than semiprofessional traders who also happen to have a GOG account.
I follow a few simple rules when swapping games:
1. If I don't already know the other member, I ask him to go first. Then I test the keys/links that my trade partner sends, and only then I send mine. This has never been a problem so far.
2. If someone wants to change this rule, I don't trade.
3. If there is anything fishy about the offer, I don't trade.
4. As usual, I check usernames before committing to anything (because we had impersonators who used slightly modified usernames of other members), I double-check each link before I click it, etc.
People have tried scamming me in Steam chat (posting links to "stearncommunity" instead of "steamcommunity" etc.), but rule 3 kept me safe. On GOG, trading is pretty safe (imho) as long as you keep your eyes open. That's one of the reasons why I'm so happy that this thread exists.
Btw, thanks for asking - a thread like this needs some tending once in a while, thanks for spending the time and effort. :)
