Try no cd crack or patch for your games.
there is also a smart steam emulator.
I mostly use these two for my need to play dvds/steam games that I have.
CODEX or PLAZA or GOG all use script based installers. Some of them use more than 2 software.
Like GOG uses inno setup for making it's installers.
You can also use winrar or arc for archiving your games.
Cracking is a tricky thing. It might not be illegal to crack a game you own but if you give it to a friend then it's piracy.
TBH it's not worth it as it's time consuming and cpu intensive.

I do have an extra Necrovision on GamersGate that I'd be willing to trade for Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition... however it's not DRM free... it's Securom.
That said GamersGate are always good about the DRM in their products... the few times I've run out of license activations they've just tossed more onto my account.
