I grew up with big bulky screens/TVs and I find that when it comes to old games, today's flatscreens just don't cut it. I've been using the SweetFX CRT shader for a little while now with recent retro-looking games such as Shovel Knight or Elliot Quest, and I was wondering if the same thing could be done with DOSBox. Turns out there is indeed a similar shader available : http://www.dosgames.com/forum/about19944.html&highlight=
But I have no idea how to use it with the GOG games. I only tried with Realms of Chaos so far. I tried to placing the shader file in the game's folder and editing the dosbox.conf file but that didn't do anything. Does anyone familiar with DOSBox know how to use custom shaders please? Thanks!
Her Story has that as one of its default graphics options and I found it irritating; I'm glad it was disablable.
You'll also have to replace the DOSBox executable with a version that supports that shader (svn-daum).

I think that's as simple as overwriting the files in the install directory for each game. The shortcuts and Galaxy should still work as long as the executable retains the name.

Been a while since I've done it, and I'm away from my gaming computer, so I can't provide more support.

Didn't think about the executable... I'll give this a try, thank you.

Very helpful contribution, thanks!
You'll find some info in the link below, not sure if they're helpful to you though:
