HAIL CAESAR!

Oh wait. That wasn't a toast either.....

I'm still using the old Downloader. Works fine for me.

Darvond: Quit being so paranoid about GOG being Steam 2.0.

WE JUST HAD A THREAD, EVEN.

But I don't even see what was so wonderful about the downloader.

CharlesGrey: A small, easy to use program, which allows customers to cue and pause/resume their game downloads, and significantly reduces the risk of broken downloads, making it incredibly useful for people on slow or unreliable connections. And all that without any of the ( unwanted ) extra feature bloat of clients such as Galaxy.

You're welcome!
Exactly this! GOG downloader is really useful as described by CharlesGrey. The only thing that would make it even better would be the ability to update any existing files only if new versions are available. In its current state it just deletes any existing installer files and re-downloads them (even if they are the same).

wolfsite: Never had that happen to me and I have games from other sources on my system that are also available on GOG.
That was sarcasm. It doesn't do any of that, except for the last bit where it asks you to buy it on the galaxy menu. But you can still play the game through Galaxy. I apologize for being unclear.

Let's see:
1) I like it
2) It's not steam
3) You don't need something other than the game files to play it
4) This is the important part so pay attention......it's not steam.

As for the original post, that was already covered a couple times so no need to answer that.
I don't really want to install a program to download files from a specific website. Makes more sense to use a general download manager.

Sure. That's also a possibility. But it's nice to have choices.

Yeah, it really wasn't very good.

You don't need anything to play games you download via Galaxy either. Get rid of Galaxy and everything works just the same.

With the death of Net Neutrality in the US, I decided to back up a few installers with the GOG downloader this morning and halfway through all the games started getting checksum errors.

I've tried restarting the computer and deleting the partially completed download files but the problem persists!
Here's another reason gog downloader is preferable:

I install GOG galaxy out of necessity to finish my downloads, try to play a game, and all my save files are gone, presumably because the game is defaulting to my nonexistant cloud saves.

DF1871: I just noticed, that my libary miss the option to download via Gog-Downloader.

Can you still use it and it's just buggy for me or is the feature disabled by Gog?
If they start going this route whe're closing in to Steam 2.0 instaed of Gog.

adaliabooks: They just moved them.

The 'More' menu where they are has been moved to after the language and OS drop downs.
Thanks :)

Okay no problem, Sarcasm doesn't translate well on message boards :)

Many states have created Net Neutrality bills with the federal one being repealed so you should check to see if your state has one in place..... and if not push your state representatives to pass one.
