I realize this may be a silly question, please forgive me. I purchased Bloodstained from Fangamer.com. I got the $100 tier, which includes:
* A physical copy of the game for XBOX ONE, PS4, Switch, PS VITA, STEAM (PC/Mac/Linux) or DRM-Free GOG (PC/Mac/Linux) featuring special backer-exclusive content and slipcase
* A keychain
* Lapel pin
* Soundtrack CD (and digital album)
* A retro strategy booklet
* Your name in the credits!
I want to play this game on my PC as I don't have any current gen consoles, plus what if in ten or twenty years I want to play this game and my PS4 is dead? So I choose GOG.com.
I don't ever really use GOG.com, so like, I don't get the "physical copy of the game". Isn't GOG.com just digital downloading? I emailed fangamer this question:
I have a quick question. I ordered the physical GOG copy of the game. GOG is online-based, so what does it mean by getting a "physical copy"? I assume that whoever chooses GOG or Steam that the game will just show up on their online account. Is this the case?
And their answer:
You will actually be getting a physical box, with the Kickstarter exclusive slipcase and a disc with the game data on it. This will be accompanied by an activation code for the game. You will be sent the same code via e-mail when the game is first released, so you can also choose to download it. Let us know if you have any other questions!
So I'm getting a physical box with a disc with the game on it, but for what? To put into your computer's CD-ROM? But then the rep said that "You will be sent the same code via e-mail when the game is first released, so you can also choose to download it". So they mean I can download the game to play on GOG.com so that I don't have to open the physical box right? If that's the case, then why is there a backer option for $125 that includes everything in my tier PLUS a digital copy?
So confusing. Ultimately I just want to be able to play the game on my PC by downloading it via GOG.com, and not have to open my "physical box".
