GOG,

I enjoy the general discussion forum, but it's not an easy way to access specific information. What I do find an easy way to achieve this -- and that is used on Steam -- is...

... groups.

On Steam I belong to a few groups based on specific game types.

Within those groups, they discuss said game types, list the top picks for those types (in the Steam catalogue), and stay on top of new and upcoming releases in those game types.

I do not know if GOG forums have enough traffic to facilitate groups like this, but...

... they've been invaluable for me finding games that I'd never have heard of otherwise... even some older games that had become "hidden" in the back catalogue

Just a thought.
I would like to see this, and the possibility to use a live chat with the grup.

Haha, just add it to the vast list of new features, which is an addendum of the issues with the website/forum. I am sure they will get onto it. Official response:
“Use galaxy our optional client”
I don't see this happening, not after they got rid of gog mixes and other features. :/
If they do that, I just know the first group created will be "We hate GOG" or somesuch.

No, the first group created would be the Galaxy user group.

GOGMixes were really useful. I still can not comprehend why they decided to remove them, instead of developing them.
Steam also has similar curated lists, if I remember correctly.

Are we talking about game or genre subforums (or forum subgroups) here, or some kind of live chat rooms?

I am not familiar with Steam "groups". whatever they are. I know Steam has game-specific subforums though, as does GOG.

Well, Steam groups are grouped around genres or interests (ie WWII Games).

Yes, the GOG subforums are dead zones.
